Careful where you rest your hand while checking the oil

So, after a nice couple of days on the lake, I went to check the oil in the boat while cleaning up and I didn't pay attention where my right hand was holding my weight while my left hand reached for the dipstick. I heard a little snap, but everything looked OK at first, upon closer inspection, I had broken off the lever that the throttle cable attaches to. So, I pulled off the plastic engine cover and discovered it wasn't the first time it had been broken. Somewhere in its previous 12 years the lever had been JB Welded back together. Nice. Just glad it happened on the trailer at the end of the weekend.

It turns out the new part has a metal lever instead of plastic.

Also found out one of my batteries is flat. I had always run the switch on 'both' but turned to '1' while in a cove with the music on. Tried to start just on '1' and no go. Turned to both and ran it for another 4 hours thinking it was recharging, but still no go at end of weekend.

So, $300.00 for the throttle cable arm assembly and $150.00? for a battery. Looks like I still need to do some shopping to get to the B.O.A.T. thousand dollar mark for the weekend.

yikes, not something I would want to be relying on JB weld for, probably best you broke it (again) and can fix it properly now.

I guess you and the PO weren't the first ones to do that if they upgraded the part.
Couldn't you just add some air to it if it's flat. Was it just flat on the bottom?
Yea I don't run it on All or both very often. 1 or 2 for me. We will see now that I added tunes on what I do this year.

Couldn't you just add some air to it if it's flat. Was it just flat on the bottom?

Maybe I'll try adding air to the battery......ha

Here is a pic of the new part with the new metal design. It honestly seems like a bad place for a plastic moving part that sees a large heat soak.
