The F 150 is much better looking, and the Platinum fits in with the Cobalt class.

Really? The door on the ford won't even stay closed when parked!Jeeper wrote: Mon May 20, 2019 8:22 pm The F 150 is much better looking, and the Platinum fits in with the Cobalt class.
(Sorry, had to be done).
I've had my run with Ford--I went through a really bad run of Expeditions in the early 2000's. I know a lot has changed, but when you lose an engine at 37,000 miles going down the highway and big Blue says..."oh well".....you don't forget. (yes, even though there is a Mustang GT in the garage)

You have to admit the F150 is the better looking truck.

Re: Drove a new ram 1500 yesterday
I could be a little biased on the Fords. In the last 30 years I have had 13 new Ford Trucks and SUV’s one Chevrolet and one Jeep. I’ve had good luck with the Fords. The Jeep has no competition in the off road category, but I’m not impressed with the Chrysler Corp on warranty and customer service. The 98 Blazer I had less than a year when it got rear ended and totaled with less than 10,000 miles on it so I don’t have much experience with GM. I just keep buying what works for me. Ford and Cobalt.

Re: Drove a new ram 1500 yesterday
Eh, it really hasn't. The 2018+ 5.0 is having major oil consumption issues - to the point that Ford has issued a TSB and is replacing long blocks. The Gen 2 3.5 EcoBoost has a issue /w Cam Phasers - that is so bad that trucks are sitting at dealerships waiting on parts to be fixed. Just two of their highest profile engines with issues. No big deal.sailor55330 wrote: Mon May 20, 2019 8:39 pmReally? Re: Drove a new ram 1500 yesterday
Yeah - I have a buddy that got hit by the Cam Phaser issue truck sat for 2 weeks but Ford did cover it under warranty. The 5.0 oil consumption blows my mind. That engine was crazy reliable until 2018 and made a ton of power. So what does Ford Do? They redesign it by adding Direct Injection and new cylinder wall lining. People are now going through a quart of oil every 1,000 miles. Makes total sense.sailor55330 wrote: Tue May 21, 2019 8:02 amNautiGirl wrote: Tue May 21, 2019 7:19 amEh, it really hasn't. Of course all this information is based on Ford Forums, and we all know people have a great experience rarely leave a review. I would guess the issues are not as widespread as they may seem.

Re: Drove a new ram 1500 yesterday
My neighbor just traded his F150 for an Expedition Max. The truck was probably 5 years old. I asked how he liked the new Expy....his response? "meh...it's ok I guess". It's a platinum. Kind of surprised me.
Re: Drove a new ram 1500 yesterday
Definitely a Ford guy here. Ive had them all. Started out in a Chevy with a TrailBlazer then got a Ram 1500 Hemi, which was the absolute worst POS truck I've ever owned. Then went into an '08 2500 Silverado (nice truck minor issues but interior gets cheap feeling very quick it seems), a few Tahoes (had a 2000 Z71 OBS that I wish still had, then a 2011 which was similar to the truck). Then, while hesitant at first, but after a ton of research bought an 2011 F250 6.7, and after that I was stuck with Ford. Felt the best built and had no issues with minor things that would pop up on the others. For the first time, since I loved it so much traded in for the same truck. 2016 F250 6.7 King Ranch from the Lariat 2011. Still great truck and no problems. As I loved the diesel and didn't want to get rid of it. I don't need the capacity of the diesel that I needed prior and wanted a little more daily driver comfort. I went and traded a little over a year ago down to a 2017 F150 5.0 King Ranch and again great truck, I love it and will never buy anything else but a Ford.
The Chevys, IMO, are so ugly now that its amazing they can charge 70k for such an ugly and cheap feeling interior. I will say though, having owned the Dodge Ram 1500 which I hated and was always in the shop or stalling out at red lights, it would be my 2nd choice behind the Ford. Their interiors now are very nice looking and have a nice quality feel (had a 14' Jeep Grand Cherokee that we loved as well). Regardless as happy as I've been in my multiple Fords, I won't be making any moves away anytime soon.

New 3.0L diesel coming for the Ram 1500 in December 260HP/480 lb ft edging out the others and Ram claims it will have best in class fuel economy. I’d be interested in that. I like the Hemi but it sucks too much gas.

My 3.0 liter 8 speed diesel gets 30 mpg at 80 mph.

Yes on both of them (Ms Driller took #1 out). Cut the mileage by about 1 mpg and when it is cold outside the idle increases about 500 rpm and the transmission shifts at a little higher rpm when it's cold outside until the engine warms up.
Other than that I can't tell any difference.
