There’s a great post on here regarding where to stow your stuff.
I’m wondering if anyone has the dimensions of some of the smaller but important R5 compartments. We don’t yet have delivery of our new R5, but are curious about what will fit for some of the loadout. Or does anyone know where detailed dimensions like this are available? I haven’t found anything online.
- anchor compartment - does anyone have the dimensions? Trying to figure out if a 14# delta anchor and rode will fit. Have confirmed (from this forum) someone has fit the Fortress FX-7 loadoat.
- cooler compartment - I’ve read on here it’s better to put a portable cooler in there. Have confirmed on here the R3 fits the Yeti Flip 18 perfectly. Not sure if the cooler is the same size on the R5?
- fender compartment - have heard this won’t fit 8” genders but could fit 6”. Can it fit two?

Re: Compartment / locker sizes on R5?
I'm not sure if the cooler compartment size on the R5 is the same as on the R3, but I think the cooler will do fine for an afternoon with a bag of ice thrown in. Plus it's self-cleaning - the clean meltwater just drains to the bilge and out into the lake. If that isn't enough, the Yeti 18 is over $400 CAD. Eeek!

Re: Compartment / locker sizes on R5?
@ryandmartin - I just picked up a 2019 R5 myself. A couple of comments:
1) I didn't have a delta anchor on hand, but having one delivered end of this week. I'll update as/if I'm able to confirm (I also ordered 14lb).
2) At least 2 6" bumpers will fit in the compartment (it basically is a large "sock" after the initial "mouth"). However, I ordered 8" bumpers myself. If I need to store them elsewhere, I will.
3) On the cooler - I can't vouch for the built in cooler area, and certainly appreciate the comment from BobRae99 - however, it's inconvenient to tote drinks etc out to the boat and then unload them into the cooler section, when I can just pack a cooler to begin with and have a place to put them. I measured the dimensions of the cooler area at (roughly, as the initial lip is smaller than the internal dimensions) at 9.5" wide by 17" long by 13" deep. The flip 18, based on the Yeti website, won't QUITE fit (by an inch), unless it's pliable enough to fit down in there. I may buy one just to check, but right now, it doesn't seem to fit. The only other thing I'd consider is a cooler to sit down in the head area...but didn't grab those measurements before I got on a plane this morning...

Re: Compartment / locker sizes on R5?
Ok:
#1 14lb Delta anchor JUST fits. Dont recall the rules if I'm allowed to post links, so remove if needed, but this is the one I bought: MarineNow Galvanized Delta Style Anchor (14 lb (6kg))
There's no way anything bigger would fit (that's what she said?)
#2. To no one's surprise, the 8" bumpers don't fit, but only by about 1/2". Oh well, I like their protection too much to downsize.
#3. Picking up the cooler tomorrow. Will update afterwards.

Re: Compartment / locker sizes on R5?
This is great, and exactly what I was wondering -- thank you for all the info! I'm jealous you've already taken delivery. Mine starts production next week, and we'll be taking it out pretty quickly after delivery for the 4th of July week. So I want to be pretty well ready to go. Thanks again.Happycouple wrote: Thu May 02, 2019 7:14 pm Ok:

Re: Compartment / locker sizes on R5?
I bought the Yeti Flip 18, it will fit in the cooler behind the drivers seat but it is pretty tight. I can’t open the zipper when it’s in place, I don’t think I will be using it in that compartment.Happycouple wrote: Mon Apr 29, 2019 3:48 pm @ryandmartin - I just picked up a 2019 R5 myself. Re: Compartment / locker sizes on R5?
Thanks for all the info... super helpful. Found a couple other recent posts where people have used the built in cooler and had success with ice longevity. So may just stick with that and see what happens. Was hoping a Yeti 18 or similar size could just drop in and work, but sounds like the lid won’t function.
Also, thanks for the anchor info. I ended up adding the windlass, and bought a FX-7 secondary. Now have to figure out how to store that somewhere without it banging around. Wish there were better options than a $125 AnchorSuit.
