Hull Air Vent?

Post by no_rulz25 »

1st question - What is the purpose of that air vent up on the bow, outboard starboard side?

2nd question - What is the "paper" that goes on the inside of that vent? Mine has torn open and the guy at West Marine looked at me like I was retarded when I asked him about it.

It is to vent out the anchor locker.

Two things...one would be the anchor locker drain, the other would be the horn (I think).

Anchor locker drains can and will clog from time to time so if you notice water backing up after washing or if it gets rained on, you will have to snake it out. Pretty easy process, had it happen on my 330ss

I think everyone’s boat has it. Look at the forum pic at the top of the page, it’s right there just aft of the docking light.

Really? Lol

Does anyone else have some sort of “paper” on the inside of it? Wondering if past owner put it in there.

That's not paper. Or it shouldn't be. It's a fabric to protect the horn from water intrusion. Buy a stainless horn instead of the white one. I don't know why Cobalt used the cheap white one. Mines the same way.

They went to dual stainless on later 260 series models.
