My controls at the helm operate smoothly with the engine off. Wit it running, I have difficulty getting it out of gear from both Forward and Reverse. Because it is only when running, I am guessing it it NOT the cable itself... What do you guys think???

Mine change as well once it's running. My last boat did it to. I think it's all the cables. The cones could be bad too. But that old of a boat I would do cables anyways.

Are cables difficult to replace????? I have never had to do it! My old boat out in the driveway is a 1978 and it has a V/P 280...original cables on it as far as I know~~~ I bought it back in 03 never had a hiccup~~~
