Build process question
Build process question
So I’m narrowing down my boat. I lean back and forth daily, if not hourly. So with formula, any guy on the line building the boat can’t stop the production line at any time if they see something wrong. That’s huge to me and I e heard wiring issues with cobalt and some “first weekend” out mishaps. Does anyone know of cobalt has the same process? Thank god, I don’t have a timeline lol.

Re: Build process question
Well you only Started back in January.
Heck I don't even remember what boat you were looking at. Every boat or car or what ever can have issues. Cobalt has had some too and they really stepped up to the plate to those owners. Yes I think if the person on the line sees something they will stop it till its fixed. During the tour they told us a great story about Paxton doing that for some period of time. There's plenty of new owners that have had zero or very little issues and live there boats. Others have also been on the other side of that.

Re: Build process question
I wouldn't worry too much about it. I read all sorts of problem with a few boats on this forum recently. Mine arrived in perfect condition. All you have to do is give the boat a good pre delivery inspection and I'm sure you'll be fine. If your not, Cobalt will take care of it, I'm sure.Spine Guy wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2019 6:08 pm So I’m narrowing down my boat. I lean back and forth daily, if not hourly. LIke Bob said I would not worry about it. My 19 has been great and I do not see 1 dip in quality. I did have an issue with my Rockford Fosgate head unit going out. But Cobalt and the dealer had it replaced within days. Just make sure you purchase from a reputable dealer as they have pushed a lot of the customer service stuff off on the dealers now. Instead of cobalt flying techs around like the old days.

Agreed, wouldn't worry too much. Had a few minor problems on delivery but nothing that was couldn't have a lot of fun on the boat and really enjoyed it. Cobalt dealer was on top of the issues.Spine Guy wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2019 6:08 pm So I’m narrowing down my boat. I lean back and forth daily, if not hourly. Re: Build process question
Hahaha! I have been looking for some time that’s for sure! But it’s a big purchase and can’t screw it up
. Ok, I’m not a big fan of the sales guy at my local dealer, if I go cobalt, I’ll get it from somewhere else. Still rocking the tri-toon for now.
Re: Build process question
Spending big $$ means its need to feel good doing it.
When the salesman influences our already anxious purchase it’s time to ask for someone else.
In the automotive industry they call it a turn!
. You’re gonna find the right person who will make you feel good handing over your $$. Just ask

Re: Build process question
Interesting thing about Cobalt compared to a car or something is how much is done by hand. They hand spray the gelcoat, hand lay the glass layers in the boat hull form, and hand fit, trim, polish, etc., the entire boat together. Not every boat is delivered perfect, but they're typically pretty close, and the dealer network has the resources and backing from the factory to make any problem right for the new owner.
It's not a huge surprise this forum picks up the few flawed boats out of many thousands the factory puts out every year, but on the whole, they're a traditional hand-crafted product with fit and finish second to none.
If you really want to see the difference, go look at 15 year old Cobalts and 15 year old boats from other brands, and see how they've held up.

Re: Build process question
No manufacturer is perfect every time. That’s why you find a good dealer and a manufacturer that has a great reputation about fixing any problems. The only way to have zero problems boating is to not buy a boat.

Re: Build process question
Can't go wrong with a Cobalt or a Formula. Both are top quality built boats, but Luke Bama said nobody is perfect 100% of the time. Issues will come up no matter what brand you buy, just all part of owning a boat!
I currently own a 2008 302 and I love it! Very well though out boat and the craftsmanship is 2nd to none. Before this I owned a 330ss and it was also a really nicely designed boat. Tgrace has always said if you are staying under 30 feet I think Cobalt would be my choice, over 30 feet I may leak towards Formula.
