Re: Cobalt Numbering Designation
Like I said before I don't get to attached. If the family wants to surf I'm switching. I have been looking at a MasterCraft x35 it's pretty deep and the wife can sit forward. That's her only request. If we didn't like it we sell it and buy another Cobalt. It's pretty easy for me. Im always looking for something to flip or keep. I myself want to try surfing too. I think it would be a blast. I think the wife and the rest of the Kids would enjoy it also. I can't go with a forward drive due to the lakes around here.

Yup, I'm one hour ahead, so technically I am from the future. That's why I find these listings before you.Big Block Power wrote: Fri Aug 11, 2017 8:06 pmColin aren't you in a different time zone. Quit trying to get me in trouble.ColinC wrote: Fri Aug 11, 2017 6:51 pm OK...

Boat is located in Quebec. So technically it is a French boat. Maybe the helm is in the middle? I'll post the link along with an English translation for folks.
If anyone is interested, but has comcerns about importing a boat from Canada to the US, it's a piece of cake. I've done the import / export process on three vehicles for personal use. It's a great way to save by playing the FX game. Your USD goes a little further up here in Canada.

X-35 is a beautiful boat, BBP. Enjoy your ride and take pics!
We looked at them at the boat shows. If you are primarily skiing in a flat lake that does not kick up--and has no bottom debris issues--they are perfect.
It would get crushed on Lake Erie though with that pickle fork bow; inboard engine; and negligible dead rise hull. Had to pass due to big water boating.
I think you ought to go after that Canuck 262!

Re: Cobalt Numbering Designation
Thanks no 262 right now. I love the 220 & if I switch will be a x35 the x35 is one of the deepest boats MasterCraft builds so it should be ok for where I boat 90% of the time.
Nothing in the near future. I have to flip a few boats to get to my budget for any new boat.
They aren't in a hurry to get a hold of me on the 222. I've been busy and forget to call them too.lol

Re: Cobalt Numbering Designation
Roger that my friend.
Enjoy your ride Wednesday ( if it doesn't rain). Great opportunity. The x-35's are fun on the water but there is a reason they never list deadrise on ski boats.
Glad to see you're stayin' with Cobalt for the foreseeable future.

Re: Cobalt Numbering Designation
AsLan, he may not face the same issues we do on Lake Erie. Our lake isn't normal, or remotely predictable from hour to hour.
You should have SEEN the waves on the lake this past weekend. Outside of the breakwall in Buffalo, they were absolutely incredible. Not angry, just huge. What a blast, and we were thrilled we put the boat in the water in Buffalo instead of our usual place 15 miles down the lake. I think small boats would have been in a heap of trouble.

The bow desdrise or the v is very deep but at the rear of the boat I read once it's pretty flat 9Β° not sure what the freeboard but it almost looks as deep as my 220 if not more with plenty of storage under the seats. Our lakes can get pretty rough but not like the great lakes. It's not close to a done deal yet. Just been in the planning stage for a year. I'm like liquid can't jump into these things. Seeing that I pay cash for these toys I have to get a few more pennies in line if I do something. Yes when I come back out will be a Cobalt that's a no brainer.

Yes, sometimes it can look like the Ocean! We have become very keen at watching the weather as well while boating on Erie, T. Any pics you can post of those waves?
I see these ski boats and shake my head when they try to leave the bay and go into the lake. The freeboard alone is dangerous.
At least the X-35 freeboard is much better. The bow vee will only help while at a much slower speed. It will pound the crap out of you with that bottom in any kind of roughness.
One of the reasons our Fountain was so fast was because it had a stepped 17 degree deadrise hull vs the deep vee's of many others. It could be a pounder at times....and that's 16 degrees more than an X-35. Then again, when the lake is smooth, you just can't beat those flat bottom ski boats for water sports.
