I love Musk's nerdisms. As an IT guy I enjoy appreciate the dedication to spending time/money on quirky, fun things in the products.

Could you share the JL audio parts list you used for this project?
Thanks
We used 3 pairs of MX650CCXSGWH
1 pair of MX770CCXSGWH (transom)
2 M10IB5SGWH (Subs)
1 M800/8v2 amp
1 M600/1 amp

There’s some other connectors etc listed but that’s the main stuff.
Thank you for the info, I will be stealing your specs for my upgrade. ;)

shrfdeputy, Where did you have this work done at? I'm in Augusta, KS and I just bought a 2008 COBALT 222. I want to upgrade the stereo to JL speakers and amps, and tower speakers, and add a second battery. Where did you buy all the JL components? TIA!

I had all the work done at All Elements here in Wichita. Jake designed the system after I told him exactly what I wanted, and he did all the work. The system has worked flawlessly with the exception of a blown sub, but that was replaced under warranty. Overall I'm extremely happy with the results.

And just a quick update: Everything has worked great. We were the star of the show at the Cobalt Regatta raft up. lol Mid-summer we realized our system just drew too much power for one battery to handle on its own. We added a third (2 in parallel) battery to shore us up, and it never let us down after that. We also added a charger to charge all 3 batteries and that was some great money spent as well.

Hey DR. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

Any pics of your Cobalt 222? That boat will certainly live up to your username with a JL system.

Feel free to start an intro thread if you have the time. We sure enjoy hearing how folks get into and use their Cobalts.

Again welcome aboard mate!

If you're going to do some of the work (or buying components) yourself, a lot of people on the forum have had good luck with creativeaudio.net, especially for JL Audio stuff: https://creativeaudio.net/

They have locations in Missouri and Kansas, so they may be a fit to do some work for you too,

Hey Dockrocker, we wrapped up an offseason stereo refresh in our 2007 222 last year. It was all pretty straight forward, but if you need any help let me know. Also our 222 came from the factory /w dual batteries, if you want me to snap some pics of how the factory did it we will be at the boat next weekend.

Wow, three batteries? Guess it takes some extra power to be the star of the show.

You guys are running M series JL amp's right? I have found that they are really easy to power, as they should be since they are Class D. We have had ours turned up in a cove for a good six hours without issues, and we are on a three year old Group 27 starting battery. Wonder what is different /w your setup?

Yeah we have the M series. I think having the battery charger has made a big difference. Before we had it we would listen to it for 4-5 hours, but then our trip back to the ramp was only maybe 20 minutes. I just don’t think we had enough time to recharge all the way because the next time our it would die. Haven’t had a single problem since we did the third battery and charger though.

With all that WOT running you guys do they should charge up quick. Weird. I'm sure you guys are listening louder than we do though, it takes some serious volume to be the star of the show when the founder of Cobalt is floating around the same cove in an A36.

Yes, some pictures of the factory dual batteries would be great! I'm sure I will be asking for some help. I want to install another battery and different switch (maybe Blue Sea 5511e), battery charger, and install a couple JL amps, speakers and tower speakers. I plan on doing all of this myself. My 222 came with 1 battery and low grade stereo system. It did come with a great Sampson Razor tower!
