.......and that's why I would let your dealer take care of it. If something were to freeze, it's totally on them..

Agree 1000% I get people want to do everything themselves. And I admire that. But a cracked motor or drive due to improper winterization can be a 7,000+ dollar mistake. The harbor charges me under 200 bucks to winterize. I just call that my winter insurance policy.
Yup, think i paid around $200 and that was with them coming over to Shell Knob. They dont "fog" the engine though :? their response was, nobody does that anymore. Its in the owners manual though...thoughts?

I'd find a marina that follows the service manual. Fogging isn't really "fogging" anymore, it's running lubricated fuel through the injection system to prevent fouling injectors, and on some older models like mine the VST is sensitive to clogging if not lubed for long term storage. It takes an extra 30 min, well worth the effort.

Cast iron cylinders left for many months unused can form a slight tarnished rust even with the oil film left behind after its last running cycle. Remember you have valves left open so not all cylinders are sealed , and exposed to damp moist air. The thinking is piston rings won’t have to bear the clean up of rust and wear prematurely or loose sealing properties.
.
We used to fog our race motors for winter by cranking it over 5-10 seconds ( you don’t need to run it) and spraying a blend of marvel and oil through a wide open carb. ( ignition off ) .
Stabil makes aresol spray that simplify this if someone feels the need.

I don't think any FWD boats are carb'd anymore?

It's actually very simple, here's a great video that makes it understandable for even the simplest of minds.

Matt and akor I'm lost. Please make it simpler. What's a carb? What's a FWD. It's that the new 4wheel drive boat?

Carbs make you fat, and FWD = front wheel drive BB, I thought you were a professional?
