212 Dash Gauge Removal

Its' been awhile since I have been here but I am looking for some help. I have a GPS speedometer for my 212 that I am going to install. I assumed that you gain access to the back of the dash from inside the storage compartment in front of the drivers position. The back carpeted wall looks to be split in the middle horizontally . There are 4 screws in the wall on each side, two in the upper portion and two in the lower on each side. I removed the 4 upper screws but the upper panel seems to still be firmly attached. There doesn't appear to be any other screws at the top. So can anybody give me some guidance as to how to get to the backside of the dash so I can change out the speedometer. My boat is a 2007 model 212.

Man I could get at my whole dash from under the helm. I didn't have to remove any of the carpeted panels. Those panels are just screwed in. 4 to 6 screws each piece and stuffed in place. Get a screw driver between the pieces and try to pop it out. I'm not sure how diff your 212 is then my 220. Any pictures from under the dash. I'm surprised you can't see it from there.

You are doing it correct Mark on 212. Remove these 4 screws in upper part. Try to put your fingers in upper left corner of upper carpeted panel (there should be some space) and pull it a little. And you get the full access to back of dash.
