Very exciting and congratulations! I visited Lake Oconee this year so I know the bridges you mean. I loce that Lake!! ( They only allow 28 ft max length for boats which is kinda cool for not dealing with cruiser wakes)

Get some pics at the Ritz!!!

We like the lake too, much better than Lanier in my opinion. However, I think they allow up to 30 ft boats now. The issue with this lake is depth, many areas get down to 2 ft which limits the kind of boat you can use.

I was at the Ritz just this weekend watching the game at Gabi's :)

Ytmsn wrote: Tue Oct 02, 2018 7:23 am Congratulations and welcome to the persnickety CobaltOwnersClub! Sounds like you are going to have an awesome boat!

Two things come to mind.

Too late for the first one, but maybe it'll help someone else. Anytime I'm buying anything and my wife is with me, we go in as a team, and play good and bad. I try to keep my poker face, while she frowns the whole time and shakes her head no at everything, regardless of how much she wants it. The salesman will try to win her over the whole time I'm talking to him and concede to larger discounts. Then we go off to "discuss", and come back to the negotiation for even more. It usually works when big markups and commissions are involved.

Two: I would buy an aftermarket mooring cover that is fitted to your boat, and covers the swimdeck. I use snap covers for overnight stays on the lift to keep spiders and critters out, and a mooring cover during the week and over the winter. Mine covers the swimdeck with the seadek material, which will get nasty if exposed. And a custom cover can be bought for about a third less than the factory cover. You can always have a Cobalt patch sewn off if you have too.

Now, let's see some pics!
Hello Ytmsn - That is almost exactly what my wife and I did. She is always the bad cop LOL. Great advice on the mooring cover, will do that for sure. I just did not know what options are available in the after market and if they are any good since this is my first Cobalt.

I am going through the closing process with my dealer. Will post pics as soon as I take delivery.
congrats on purchase and i love my cobalt. two things from a 2014 220s owner with the factory tower.
1) don't buy the tube inflator. I have it and actually use a 15$ aftermarket one from one of the tube mfg (i think HO). Had it for three seasons and it works great. just too expensive for what it is

2) Factory mooring cover is great for what you want. If your boat lives in the water the over the swim platform cover wont work as the swim platform is 1/2 inch over the water. It would just be soaked all the time. If boat will be on a trailer or lift or dry storage, i could see the point, but anytime you cover and boat is in the water you wont be happy.

I like the mooring cover, it is great for trailering, it fits tight and doesn't move. It is easy to put on except if your boat is going to be stored on a dock floating (not an issue on lift). the reason it can be tough is every time you put it on, you have to take the dock ropes off 1 by 1 to get the cover on and then put the ropes back on. Annoying and if I had to do it every time i used the boat I would be looking for something else. But i think you said yours will be in dry storage so not an issue.

N, welcome and congratulations on your purchase. We love the 220s layout. The new Volvo engines are amazing performers and, like you, I had to drive it to believe it. Since this is your first boat, you learned quick. Cobalt is by far the highest quality boat I’ve ever owned (4th boat). Good luck.

Hi all - Wanted to thank you all again for your guidance and advice. We are now proud owners of our very first Cobalt 220S!!

We have had a chance to take it out a few times and love it. There are a few things left to do within the next few weeks:
- Install flag
- Install Seagrass flooring
- Bow filler cushion

I will provide updated pictures once we have these installed.

Nhabash wrote: Mon Sep 24, 2018 1:06 pm Hi All - I am a new member in this forum and about to pull the trigger on a 2018 220S. Since this is my first time with Cobalt, and have never owned a boat (always rented), I have a few questions I am hoping you can help with. The specs are:
- 2018 Cobalt 220S, brand new from dealer
- Option:
- Arch, White, Fwd. Folding w/Bimini, Ebony
- LED Interior Accent Lighting R/G/B
- Flip-Down Swim Step w/o Ladder
- Standard Sound
- Volvo V6-240 SX w/ Closed Cool
- Depth & Water/Air Temp Gauge Pkg.
- Carpet - Gray
- Bow Tonneau Cover - Ebony
- Cockpit Tonneau Cover - Ebony
- Aft Walk-Thru Carpet
- Prop, Aluminum, Volvo

My questions are:
1. We like to cruise, so sports are minimal and limited to pulling a tube and maybe light wake/knee boarding. Is the engine big enough?
2. I understand the role Duo Props plays, should I spend the money to get the DP version of this engine?
3. Is the EVC option worth the money on a 220S?
4. Anyone has experience with Electric tower? I do have to pass under (what looks to me to be) a low bridge and this would make it easier.
5. Is it easy as a DIY job to add a Dinette table or should I ask for that up front?

I have been reading through the posts on this forum and already plan on a few upgrades down the road including the Sound System, Air Compressor, Fender Clips, Flag Pole, etc. but all these seem to be easier DIY jobs I can keep myself busy with over the winter months :)

Thank you for answering.
I loce happy endings. 🤣🤣 congratulations!!

How do you like Oconee?

I am in the process of getting a boat and I am debating Sinclair or Oconee. How did you decide?

I am leaning towards Sinclair right now.
