I think the consensus was a carb would be easier to tune in the long run. And a newer HEMI boat engine would be awesome. I wish VP would explore that idea. You could cover all the power options available now (300, 350, 380) with the 5.7, and get 430 easily with either a 6.4 or a 6.2. Then they could really unleash a beast with a Hellcat version!

So anyway, does anyone know if my old, AQ outdrive would boot up to a 502?

We did and ran it yesterday. It’s a lot better than it was. We still think it can be better, but I think we will have to finish up next Spring. It was pretty flat with the 56’s in the front, and it had a big hesitation when I went from half throttle to WOT. We changed the primary to a 64 and it was way better, but then we ran out of fuel. I put 15 gallons in it for two test sessions. My gauge doesn’t work all the time so I didn’t know it was that low. I got my upper body exercises in rowing a 252 to a fishing dock though!

I don't think a fuel injected 502 or 496 uses that much gas. Lol
I guess you need smaller jets.

I would have given one of about any body part I have two of to have had a trolling motor.

Yes yes. That’s how you test it! Light load for max speed. I’m sure Reggie Fountain was towed in a few.
Holley jets use the same drill hole for every 3 sizes. Just the entry chamfer is different. So to cover that lean bog go up 3 sizes and try again.
This time with a bit more fuel.. or a spotter !
