Winterizing the engine

Post by Mike in SC »

I just winterized my 2003 220 with the 350 MPI.
I drained all the water out of the engine and replaced the drains/vent with new 0-rings. I poured the antifreeze into the block until it was full, then filled the exhaust risers until I could hear the stuff hitting the ground behind the boat.
If it's pouring down the transom, does that mean the exhaust bellows is in bad shape, or is this "normal?"
I am hesitant to fog the engine. I might take the boat out again on a nice day...decisions, decisions...

what sucks is to fog you'll need to re-winterize afterwards...

Gotcha.

To re winterize the block and risers is four plugs pulled, three hoses removed and about 5 gal antifreeze.
Fogging engine not quite as time critical I suppose, it's below freezing now so i had to do that much.
Thanks for your advice.

Well I finally took my boat to the pros, paid them to fog the engine and dewater, treat the gas, etc.
I'll take it to them in the spring to do some more in-depth maintenance items.
Now to plan the off season mods and find the nice day to work on them!
