Service records

Post by Brokentoy1 »

Thinking of making this to go on the inside of the engine hatch. Just to help with keeping track. Is this necessary or unnecessary? One of my good friends is a boat mechanic, so we just take care of everything at my shop.

I don't see anything wrong with it. Everyone is diff. I was keeping track of mine in a manual but gave that up last year. Now I just do it. Because most of us do maint on used boats ourselves records just don't matter as much. New boats Yea then have the dealer keep it.

I just keep a file for each vehicle with all the receipts for parts/work done. The receipts have dates and are kept in order. Like BB I do all my own work (except detailing...) so other than the receipt there isn't much to track.

I keep a journal detailing everything done to the boat. Dates, price and scope. Seems to be a big deal at resale. But I like the sticker!

I have a file for every vehicle I own in Dropbox so I can access it anywhere. It lists the part numbers for everything I use and order.
