Anyone else as excited as me to get a set of these props?

Post by akorcovelos »

I've been on the early adopter list for months, but it may be a while before they get to the B3 drive...Still, by the numbers I should get ~9-13 mph gain with a set of these, and burn less fuel doing it. I'm sure the ROI will be long as they won't be cheap, but figuring rule of thumb for boats is $1k per mph, and I doubt a set will cost $9k, it should be a good bang for the buck type deal.

Thoughts?

So where do you see the 9-13mph gain? at midrange he was seeing that but at top end it was only 2%

Well I like it..
It appears they carefully used props that could all reach max rpm of 5800 so that was smart. ( under propping).

It definitely has bite for a single set up but it may be comparable to a larger pitch standard 3 blade.

Notice the smaller diameter 3 blade was only 1 mph slower at wot, but had lousy bite and high slippage.
Great innovation though as I’m all about fuel economy now😎.

I'm a big fan too. Great Boat Test video. Very innovative engineering by Sharrow to virtually eliminate induced drag.

Good catch, that’s only 1.2mph top end of that holds true on a dual prop drive. Still, if it pulls harder than traditional props, between my tune and those props it should pin you to the seat from 20-50 mph.

Interesting indeed! I had mine customized last year and it made a world of difference. I wonder how that Sharrow would look to my guy who worked over my prop

Well I just got a email to pre-order a set of these props.
They will be at the Miami boat show.

Geeze.. I’d just leave it on the fireplace mantel for all to admire. And to laugh that it was more than a Merc racing cleaver 🤣

But there is a protection plan.

At 9k I don't think I want to ding them. No more starting in 2.5 feet of water. Yecks. I bet they ding easy too. For some reason in the pleasure craft boating category I don't think they will excel at it.
