That may be, but the guy who bought the 252 I looked at is dry stacking with in/out service so whether it's down the road or on site does it matter if the boats in the water when you want it to be?

That's exactly the point, because the time to get the boat in the water from the lakefront drystack after you call is about 10 minutes, which is about how long it takes me to walk to the Gordy's docks. The offsite in/out valet requires about 2 hours notice (they have to load the boat onto a trailer, drive it to Abbey Harbor, and launch it--and then you have to deal with getting out of the harbor, which on busy days can take the better part of 1/2 hour due to the traffic light under the one-way bridge). I'd much rather not have to plan that far in advance.

So this thread is finally resolved! I see my last post was October 30, at which point the decision was on hold due to waiting to find out what the summer storage would be; commitments and payments are due 10/31 for the following summer, so I figured I'd know where it was going to be by mid-November, which would dictate which boat I'd get (R3 if only buoy available, R5 if lakefront lift or indoor offsite drystack). Heard nothing by the end of November, so called sales and was told they were "still working on it". Ok, don't get it but ok.

Last week (1/7) I get a bill for summer storage, to which I replied "Huh? Where and for what boat?" After a flurry of communication, I'm going to be the owner of a new R5, navy bottom, white edge stripe, Pacific Blue hullsides, on a lakefront lift. No more calling dealer to put the boat in, can go out when I want and stay out as long as I want (after dealer hours), and actually hang out on the boat and enjoy the lakefront after being out without having to pay $12 for a beer (which will help defray the cost of the boat lol). Life is good!

Not yet - I'm still waiting for information on the upcoming R6. I didn't really care for what I saw in the pictures posted here last month, but you can't really tell from the pictures.

I've got the spec worked out though:

Ebony/Red Stripe
VP430 (Maybe a 380)
Folding Tower with Bimini (white)
Dual batteries
Platinum sound with transom speakers
Aft Tilt switch
Rudder indicator
Electric head
Sink
Trim tabs
Windlass
Bow/cockpit covers
Docking lights
Maybe interior lighting.

I haven’t even told him I’m contemplating a new boat yet.

The way things are going, I doubt we’ll see the R6 before mid summer. I’m thinking I’ll keep my boat until then and see what the R6 looks like. If I like it I can order one. If I don’t, I understand both the R5 and R6 will have overlapping production so I’d order an R5. If I want a 430, I’d have to factory order, I haven’t seen many Cobalts on dealer lots with that option.

Sorry all, been distracted with a lot of post-retirement administrative nonsense.

Answers to questions: a) yes, I rent the lakefront lift (but can't lose it as long as I commit annually and pay on time); b) power will be the Volvo 380 (there's a 35 mph daytime limit on the lake, so more made no sense--I maxed out the 220S with the 300 (it weighs 1200 lbs. less than the R5), which went like a bat out of hell but I only could do it twice a year--when I first put it in in Spring and the last day I took it out in fall). Otherwise, saddle interior, makassar dash, portlight in head, easy-fold bimini, seagrass, table, docking lights, porta-potti, anchor/windlass, ACR dual batteries, mooring cover. Being my 3rd Cobalt, I know what I need/will use by now. Come on Spring!
