Hello from Lake Norman, NC

Post by eordaz »

Good evening to everybody here. I have been following this wonderful chat for over the last 6 months and finally the time has come to post. After a lot of thinking, researching and getting the ok from boss, I pulled the trigger and ordered an R5. It will be delivered the first week of April and I will be posting real pictures then. The one thing that I regret is not ordering trim tabs. I contacted the dealer this week and they told me that No changes could be made as the boat was in production. I called the factory today and left a message. I doesn’t make sense to me that it cannot be arranged.

Here are the options I ordered: 8-)

Volvo V8-380CE EVC DP
Pacific Blue Sides
Tahoe Grey Interior
Sea Dek Full Boat
Makassar Dash/Interior Trim Pkg. Prem Sound w/Transom & Arch Spkrs-1 pr.
Docking Lights-Stainless Steel Swim Platform Transom Lighting Underwater Lighting
Dinette Table w/CP & Sunpad Rec LED Interior Accent Lighting (RGB) Battery Switch, Dual w/ACR Drivers Rearview Mirror
Windlass, All Chain w/Anchor
Three Color Custon w/Sandstone Edge Navy Hull Bottom
Grey Stitching
Mooring Cover
Rudder Indicator, Volvo
White Arch, Elec Folding w/Rotating Shade
Flagpole w/Flag
Transom Shower
Colored Quilted-Pattern Stitching Head w/Electric Porcelain Toilet Battery Maintainer/Charger, 110v Captain's Call Exhaust
Fire Extinguisher, Automatic System

You had me at Windlass and Captains call!!

Welcome going forward from California. That’s a sweet set up! It does appear true as once orders are in build it may be tricky. But reaching out direct was a good call!
As most harness are added going with a simple Tab system as opposed to automatic schmancey may be your pitch.
(Or Ytsmn and I can pencil it in) strike that .

Keep us posted and we look forward to hearing your endeavors! Plus we want to hear about lake Norman!

Not sure you missed anything. Lol nice boat.
Yes you can have the dealer add them so no big deal if the factory won't.
Congrats.

Congrats on the new R5! Looks like you loaded her up nicely! Like others have said the boat will be prewired for the tabs so you can have the dealer add them after production. I would want them for sure. With the seat configuration of the r series it is a very nice thing to add. Everyone wants to load up the port side and with the tabs you don’t have to yell at everyone to move around.

Welcome to the CobaltChat forum eordaz. So glad you found us!

That is a killer color combo. For some reason those colors remind me of the updated Styx album cover which I see pop up on our car's display listening to internet radio. And nice job getting the boss on board as well. You folks are going to make some great memories on her.

That is surprising that the factory cannot add tabs at this point. Leaving a message will certainly help in your efforts. It is a fairly easy add-on so either way you will be able to have them. Like TG98 mentioned, it is definitely worth it especially for larger groups who congregate to the port side on those rear starboard-side entry models.

Keep us posted and again, welcome aboard mate!

Welcome from Texas. You spec'd out a great boat. I have a 2014 R5 w/o trim tabs and can't say that I have missed them yet. There have been a very few instances when the boat seemed to have a slight lean, but it wasn't significant and I haven't had to readjust people or coolers yet. So, add them if you feel strongly, but you might want to put a few hours on it to see if you will even need them.

My wife and I usually just have our adult friends or sons, so we don't have lots of kids and coolers and the adults seem to know how to spread out I guess, because it hasn't been a problem.

Welcome from Oklahoma! That is going to be a badtothabone boat!

If you can get tabs, either at the factory or having your dealer do it, you'll be happy with the outcome. Its usually just my wife and I in ours, so it's not so much leveling from passengers on one side as it is smoothing out the ride in rough water. They magically make chop go away!
