Never even considered making an insurance claim.

Had the boat (Bryant) gone over in the spring and he found a slight bend in the prop shaft. At the end of the season, it was bent pretty good. Almost 3/8" .

Yecks. What's the prop look like. Claim it.

Prop was fine. Had many to choose from. Was running a High 5 prop too fast for conditions and boat was coming out of the water. I wasn't backing off the throttle.

So my guess is that's what really tweaked the shaft. Top speed run with a 21' footer in 2' waves was prob not a good idea.

Didn't claim it, just payed up. I now have a really neat paper weight.

With any luck, I'll recoup my loss when I sell the boat. New shaft, new bearings, fresh fluid, done by a reputable shop should be piece of mind for the future owner.

There's not many 21' bow riders in my area that have 7.4L engines with thru hull exhaust, so I don't see any problems selling it.

Yea that's good power in that boat. Bryant has a good name. Bravo 1 drive I'm guessing. Yes God luck on that sale. What drive is on the Cobalt? Do you do any water sports or do you just cruise around?

Bryant would be a good candidate for a Bravo 3 though. A lot of weight in the rear with that big hunk of iron. With people in the back it took a bit for it to plane out. B3 prob would have helped

Not much water sports. We usually head out and just float and ride jet skis. Head back to the dock and make dinner. Then go back out and relax.

With the boat, we've been trying to venture out some more. Go get dinner or a sunset cruise, head down town for party scene. Stuff we couldn't do on the skis

Got ya. The only reason I was asking is you said high 5. That should have helped on the hole shot but it is a small diameter prop. It's a waterski prop.
So you have a mirage plus now on the Cobalt. Great all around prop for a B1 and if you want speed. I'm a huge revolution 4 prop guy. T5555555000000 put one on his 252 and really likes it. He tried a bunch of props too. Maybe he will come in. It's a stump puller. Midrange is crazy. You won't lose much on top end either. Something to think about and maybe want to try it some day. I can't remember what akro is running? I think he had his tweaked.

Yes the rev 4 is a hard one to get used. Search cl all over the country. EBay they will pop up. You have to be ready to grab when you see them. Just don't buy a left hand one. Lol
Watch the rebuilt ones. I had to get 1 fixed. Wasn't happy but I got what I needed out of it. I had one on my crownline and I could get that boat to jump out of the water.

I've learned my lesson with used props. Spent more $$ on used props than new.

Trying to save a few $$ on the high fives. Bought them used. (yes, 2 of them. A 25 and a 23) Fair priced, not super great deal. One was supposed to be rebuilt.

Installed the rebuilt one and the hub was spinning. (old style with rubber hub. Told you earlier I am very green with boats) Took it to the prop shop to have it re-hubbed. While there, had them check the pitch. Blades were different, so had them correct them. Prob around $700 invested in the used prop including the purchase price. Believe it or not, I was trying to check hole shot with a too tall propeller and spun the new hub. Took it back to the prop shop, they welded a few lines inside the prop to give the hub something to bite. Never tried it again because it was too tall anyway. About $900 invested in that prop.

The other one I bought used, had the blades corrected and spun that hub (old style rubber) too. Maybe $600 total in that used prop .

Bought a brand new 21 with the new plastic hub for around $500.

Not doing that again.....

Yecks. I bought prob 10 used props. Never had a issue with them. Bought new hill marine props I have now on my boat. They were the biggest pile of crap I ever bought. I brought them to bblades and he labbed finished them and are now beautiful. I have over $1600.00 into this set of props

I think throwing all that torque at them while trying to launch the boat was a bit too much. Prob why I spun both hubs. (technically 3 hubs)

Yea b1 drives like solid hubs especially with a bb.
