Of course you have to count on a Wisconsin dealer for a 8.2. HO found one!!
Maybe your dealer can trade for it? You can call them how much it is.
Man our Wisconsin dealer knows how to package a boat!!! R5 with a 430 Merc!

Yea minor diff. I Just thought it was cool. I saw that too.
My other Cobalt dealer close to me is on a much smaller lake and didn't even have a R7 in stk. The weird thing is they Packaged there r3 surf or norm with a 300hp and r5 surf with 350.

I realize asking if bigger is better is not the best question but I just wanted opinions on the differences in the boats and the engines in the boats. I am always a little bigger is better but realize that maybe a smaller package is not necessarily a bad way to go. I really wanted confirmation that if I decide to do something, then it should be the R7.

Before buying, I had the same questions. “Was it worth the extra money” the difference for us at the time was about 14K on an order. In my family, are all adults with no grand kids..yet, and use the boat for cruising instead of water sports. The cost difference for us was a no brainer.

The best way to answer them for yourself is to compare the interiors side by side. For us, we found the R5 very well designed, but slightly cramped for adults. Sitting in the 7, we found it perfect. Stretch out room in the front without your legs hitting the side, and enough for three people with the insert cushion. The extra rear seating length is perfect for sitting around the table. Not so much in the 5.

Power? I have the VP. It’s everything as advertised. Fast, quick, efficient, light, excellent marine design (unless you forget about the EZ drain)..but run at IMO an ungodly high RPM that buzz like a weed trimmer. .. my next boat will have Mercs..

Also if towing, the 7 will require a truck to haul safely.

T I second that. I towed my R-7 with my Yukon Denali XL and you don't want to tow with this set up very far.

I will vary rarely tow it and if I do it will be very very short distances, like less than 2 miles to put the boat in. I am not one to run at real high RPM’s but I like to have the power when we need it. So I don’t think the VP 430 would really bother me unless I was constantly running at high RPM’s. I think we would enjoy the extra space for sure. I would like to have a table in the back and the extra space back there would be nice.

I sure hope the 430 won't bother you! Lol
T is just a little sensitive with his ears.
Tgrace98 will say and I will say we couldn't hear anything like that on his 380 let it sing baby!! It's music to our ears!!
I'm with T though I would like a 8.2 430 with Captains Call

I think you made your mind up. R7 it is. So do you want to buy a stk one or have him trade fur a less expensive r7 maybe find one with a 380 in it. It kills me to say it the 380 Volvo is a beast in that boat. But every picture we have seen of T and Captain Ron they both have a grin ear to ear with that 430/380 he has!!
