Lost the Swim Platform
Lost the Swim Platform
Well took the 01 226 out for the maiden voyage today. Ran great and back home safe. However, about 3 hours into my day the factory extended swim platform came off. I had previously stood on it, climbed on it, shook to feel if it was secure before purchasing, etc. I was so aggravated I could have sank to the bottom with it. I know the general area it sits and plan to recover it in about 20 foot of water with help from some family that love to scuba dive. If I can’t recover it I will have to figure something else out.

Re: Lost the Swim Platform
Wonder if that platform has clip pins to remove the platform for storage ( Mastercraft etc do this ).
I blame the previous owner or the jealous neighbor kid.... ok maybe not yet.
Keep us posted as that’s a valuable option as you know.

.
Wow Aantley.
That’s a first. You don’t see Cobalt extended swim platforms fall off. Ours is anchored to the boat with some large bolts. They just don’t back out. (no pun intended).
I’m sorry to hear about that.
How cold and clear is the lake this time of year?
Hopefully you can find that puppy.

Re: Lost the Swim Platform
Bright side.. if you don't find it, you won't be needing the missing ladder......
Bad joke... this is a real bummer, man... I believe this is the first case I've
read of a swim platform just falling off. Hope this turns out ok for you.

Re: Lost the Swim Platform
in the bilge the mounts are still there and secure. I wondered if there was a way to disconnect it because i could tell it "slid" in when I looked at it to purchase. I remember last night seeing a pin on one side but the other side it appeared that the release pit was broken off. If i find the one i lost i will make sure it never comes off again. If not i have a guy who builds aluminum T tops for Center Consoles and i know he could build the frame. Then I would just get someone to make the fiberglass top.

surface temp is around 70-72 degrees. at 20 feet down it drops to about 55 degrees. visibility is not very good.AsLan7 wrote: Sat Apr 25, 2020 8:37 pm .

Re: Lost the Swim Platform
Does this clip inside of the bilge? I'm at a lost how this could come out?
By the marks or looks like it was already sliding out? Look at that picture it was sliding back. There is a huge gap Between the boat and the platform.
Your insurance will cover that also.

But a bright note out still has the other ladder.

I agree with bob. This is the purpose of Insurance...to cover against expensive risks. Give ‘em a call Aantley.

Re: Lost the Swim Platform
Man that really sucks. There are two spring loaded pushpull type pins on both sides that come in from the bottom. No way they could come out unless they were removed. And then they should have a stainless lanyard on each to keep from losing them.
If you find it, it should slide right back in, but finding those special pins might be a chore.
I never removed mine, but it seems there should have been something sticking out of those holes to pin to that the outer sleeve slides over? So maybe it came loose from the inside?
This is from my 240

Re: Lost the Swim Platform
Look how tight YT's is to the hull. Yours is way out. The guy you bought it from never put it back in after he took it out from storage?
So we came up with another plan to fix this. Let's add captains call to her. You will never know.

Re: Lost the Swim Platform
Might need the measurements of the platform so build a new one if we cant recover the one we lost.
Captain's Call would be nice if it was big block. Not that the 5.7 wouldn't sound good, but kids loved the platform for he 2 hours they got to use it.
