Anyone have any opinions? I've been a long time Escort detector owner, but it's time for a new one and the game has really changed. Escort is no longer the king of the hill on detection range, but still leads in a lot of categories such as filtering, database access, etc. I'm kind of tossed between Uniden R7 and Escort Max360c. It kind of comes down to range vs features and filtering.

My escort detector is great. Laser is always going to be troubling no matter who you go with.
If you see laser.. they see you at the same time

Totally agree--if you hear a laser alert, it's too late usually. I think I'm going with Escort...I'm familiar with the platform, even though it gives up a little performance (a couple hundred feet), the filtering is significantly better. If I don't like it, it's got a 30 day return policy.

That's why I've been looking at laser jammers. Probably won't buy one because of cost.

I haven’t used one in years. Escort was always at the leading edge.
Locally, I just use my work hat with logo, and set it on the dash. It helps to own the deli where every cop has lunch..

I’ve owned a lot Beltronics and Escort detectors over the last 35 years and am seriously considering upgrading my 4 year old Bel for an Escort Max 360 or 360c soon. My buddy just bought one to go along with his new Audi RS5 and he loves it. Very quiet with the false alarms and great range. Lots of false alarms drive me crazy so IMO the Escort Max is the way to go.

Yes I drive everywhere with Waze and very rarely does it not have a police position marked.

In looking at testing, the Uniden R7 has a clear advantage in range, but has some other issues (poor filtering, no auto GPS lockout, etc). I ended up going with the Escort 360c. Seems to be the best all-around.

On a side note, I have tried to use Waze on many occasions, but honestly, I'm not a fan. I know it's dependent on other users around you, so maybe I'm in a Waze deadzone. I tried if for a couple of weeks last year and it always routed me the exact same way regardless of traffic. Additionally, if I looked at the ETA it said, I could always better it by choosing my own route. I don't honestly remember much about police alerts. what am I missing here?

You might be onto something with dead zones. In Texas it is awesome. Also I have used it in California and it rocked there too. But it is very much cloud source so if others aren’t using it your flying solo. Luckily the adoption in Texas is really good.

As far as routes every time I think I know better I take another route to find out the road is blocked due to construction etc and I have to turn around and just listen to what Waze was telling me in the 1st place. But again if you live in an errand where is not good adoption that might not be the case. When you 1st open it up it reports how many local reporting wazers in your area.

My waze is good here in Nashville/Middle Tennessee. (well, we are Volunteers!) It usually does better than I do. Most of the times when I look at it and wonder WTF, and blunder off on my own "proper" way, I end up back on its track with it repreting directions with a seemly slightly "told you so" tone.

When you 1st open it up it reports how many local reporting wazers in your area.

I kind of remember that when I used it. When I opened it this morning, it didn't report any users....I guess that says a lot. Apparently it's not that popular around here. On a side note, is there a way to increase the warning for exits and such? I used it in Dallas once and it basically alerted me right at the exit with no advance warning....I missed 3 turns
