It is a done deal. Not going all out here. Just speakers and keeping JL amps and hoping to replace the sub with an enclosure instead of free air sub.

I had all a Wetsounds on my current boat. 6 in boat and 4 rev 10s on the tower with a 12” Alpine sub. Sounded great.

Cool so you really think the Bluave speakers will sound That much better then both JL And Wet Sounds? Sure would be cool to take a vid before and after and of the Nautique.

Well I honestly don’t think it will sound any better than my Wetsounds or I highly doubt it will sound that good just because my stereo is so loud and can be heard from long distances, plus it was clear.

This guy isn’t a JL dealer but i do think the Bluave will sound better than the JL’s that are currently in there. I wouldn’t say that if the JL M6’s were in the boat though. I think the M6 are right at the top, but depending on your ear, they would be up there with Wetsounds and Bluave. Everyone is going to have an opinion.

My daughter told me I wouldn’t be happy unless we got a new boat this summer, I said I don’t want to be on the boat and talk about my stereo all summer. So I am just trying to get it started in hopefully will be something I will enjoy.

I have tried it all, and I must say, I love both wet sounds and JL. I tried MB quartz speakers on my Tige, but they dont count, as that boat was a 2001 so anything was a huge upgrade.
I have a pair of 6x9 wet sounds in my chris craft, with a powered enclosed Stealth 8” sub. It sounds amazing, and I dont regret any of my decisions. The sound is amazing inside the cockpit of this small speedster.
My cobalt r3, has the JL system and I added tower speakers. The towers are really only good for watersports, they can’t be heard by me while driving. Overall, I am very happy with the factory Upgraded system. I won’t truly have a good feel for how which I like better, till I put them both in for a sunday funday at the sandbar.

Chris, what JL speakers are in your R3?

I have never had JL stuff but I did hear the M6 speakers playing and I was impressed. I have zero complaints on my Wetsounds as well. I guess I am kind of crossing my fingers and trusting someone else that thinks this will be an improvement in the JL speakers that are in there. He may be trying to sell me on Bluave but he definitely was not trying to sell me on stuff I didn’t need. He could have tried to talk me into new amps, towers etc...

I'm late to the party on this one. I have the Mx series premium sound in my R7 and I have 0 complaints with it. I am not a huge audiophile but I can tell you I think it sounds clean and I get yelled at by the Mrs to turn it down.

This enclosed sub setup looks perfect for where I want to put my subs. That’s a big hole to cut, but it looks to be a very clean OE looking install. Be interested in your opinion of the Bluewave stuff.

I am hoping that I am able to squeeze an enclosure where the sub is currently sitting. I will know this week some time if it is going to work. It will sound a lot better in an enclosure. I have heard very good stuff on their subs.

Well all the speakers were replaced but the most interesting thing was my stereo guy said the amps were not tuned at all. He said they were just sent from the factory after installed and they were just plugged in. Just adjusting the amps made a big difference.

Isn't that something. You would think they could get one tuned and just set the rest the same. It's not that hard. I just don't get why Cobalt stinks at this Stereo thing ☹️

Update on the stereo. The Bluave sounded really good. I think the tweeters made the biggest difference if I had to guess. Stock JL sub sounded good. Not quite as good as my Alpine in my Centurion I traded but I can’t complain. I think a pair of tower speakers and another amp and I would be happy.

So what is your opinion on tower speakers for just normal boating (not trying to pump up a wake boarder or surfer)? Are they worth it? I already have transom speakers.

Personally I left my tower speakers off when we weren’t towing somebody. You can’t really hear them unless you’re sitting on the back bench seat, then they are kind of lacking in low end so can make the whole system sound a bit mid/high heavy.
