It's coming soon. Hoping for a 24 degree deadrise and a twin 240hp option. Just can't beat that!!!

Really only bobrae and Kate have the inside Scoop on this and they can't let the cat out of the bag. Going to have to wait til June or July for the release.

My prediction--- 1 hull configuration....three ways to order....I/O, Outboard, Surf....same hull for all. It will be a new hull vs the current R series, but it may be pretty pretty close. 6 comes out first. No twins on any size....I/O or Eggbeater. Boat will be heavier than current R series---probably 4-6 hundred pounds more. No clue on the deadrise, but I would expect it to be about the same as what we have in the current series... Current interior will be "updated" to reflect more of the A design *(which seems like a Malibu influence to me).

So where does that get us? Heavier boat, no more horsepower, different interior, one hull that must now do 3 things....I'd pull the trigger on the current R if I could. Maybe I'll like it, but I'm not super hopeful for the first year.

Still, though, ~500 lbs is a LOT of fiberglass or stringers or whatever.

I have no clue on the actual weight....Only that I've been told it's supposed to be heavier than the current R's....My number was a guess. We'll see someday I suppose.

I have no update on date of introduction but it is a single hull with some CS23 influence on the swim platform and A29 influence on the cushion design and shapes. There will be a surf option. The R6 will weigh 985 lbs more, some of that will go into a new fully finished stringer system. The dead rise at the transom changes to 18 degrees. I have no information on hull changes forward of the transom so I don't draw any conclusion from a simple change in dead rise at the transom to overall hull performance in rough water. Cobalt says it will ride even more solid and quieter than current. No dual power option.

Engine layout is single I/O only and will be the same power plants currently available. Improved sound systems, standard porta potty and an optional size Garmin Glass Cockpit. Optional tower will provide more headroom.

Based on what I know, it seems like the boat would need to more power to drive similar speeds as the R5 but who knows? The new hull may be "faster". If not, it seems to me you'll need a 430Hp to hit 56 MPH, where an R5 would do that with a 380. Who knows??

Based on what I know, the new R series has A29 influence including a larger glass cockpit option. I haven’t seen an A29 in person so I don’t know if that’s a good thing. I’m not a big fan of the A29’s swim platform design element that reaches forward and I don’t care for it on the CS series either. Maybe I’m just used to what I have?

The big questions is what performance, ride and handling will be like and what the cost will be. I guess we’ll know by the end of summer.

Yikes, an extra 900lbs with the same power plants? Even with a go fast hull that would make its predecessors better performing...who wants to spend that kind of money for a boat slower (considerably) than last years model? The only silver lining is it probably makes It a better surf boat.
