Hey folks,
Been a little MIA over here, working and out enjoying the beautiful weather we've been having. Hope everyone is happy, healthy, and putting some serious hours on their Cobalts! I know I sure was, until a crack in my power steering pump housing blasted power steering fluid all over the inside of my engine compartment!! Oye vey!
The crack appears to be in the housing itself, though after 22 years and 700+ hours its probably time to replace the entire assembly just to be sure. My question to the collective hive mind is - do I need to spend almost $750 on a new OEM pump, or can I use a standard GM pump and swap some components over?
Mercruiser part no: 16792A39 - quoted $762 by the marina.
Thanks in advance!

Fair price if new.
If you don’t mind a reman you could go this route.

Likely I'm willing to give it a shot considering I could buy 5 of them for the price of a new one.
