Lol; time for lesson #2—they’re fenders, not bumpers. You want fend things off, not bump into them!
Fine, I’ll just wench it back on the trailer then!
Ok, you guys are gonna make me work for it. You don't winch (or wench) a cruising sailboat that is 40+ ft long, is 13ft wide and draws 4-7ft on a trailer, you lift it on the 18 wheeler flat bed with a 50 ton crane...or a travel lift. but hey, you can always try.
Clearly I’m not cut out for sailing, how about I just pay for gas?

Congrats BBP, it's either fuel or diesel, but I'll give you that one...you've been promoted to beerson's mate, 3rd class!

As much as hate to bring this back to topic someone is claiming they are seeing 51/52 mph on their new R6.

That is what I wrote above (several pages back) after asking my contact at Cobalt. So it’s a couple of mph off the speed of an R5 with the same power for a boat weighing almost 1,000 lbs more. Impressive.

You may be right. I think we have to wait and see what the prop charts say. My understanding is that they weren't completed by the time of the reveal, but I doubt that and must have done water test to confirm, but I was told they hadn't been done as of July 10th. I think the design team would have had to know what the boat would perform like during the design phase though.

I'm looking for a combination of a quick plane time and good top speed. I didn't see the value (for my purposes) of a V8430 with a top speed of 60 mph and a 4 second time to plane vs the V*350 I chose with a 53 mph top speed and a 3 second time to plane. We do a lot of skiing and less cruising. A soon as I have a prop chart, I'm happy to share it.

Yep and as soon as you load that baby up and put a skier back there all those prop charts go out the window. Bigger is and will always be better. Throw those magazines away and just get that big bad boy and join the team BB none of this SB stuff!!
Its OK if your dealer doesn't service merc. You won't need service anyways. That r8 will be in the driveway the following year anyways. Let's convert you Bob👍👋👋

I don't know - I've had 6 adults in my R3 and pulling up an adult skier and boat and skier both pop out of the water instantly. If I ever boat in an area where I need to cruise at 30 - 35 mph for an extended time and want a lower RPM while doing so, I'd move up in engine size, otherwise I'm good with the 350. Its plenty for this boat and after almost 2 seasons and 40 hours with the boat, I have no engine choice regrets. :)
