New R7 won’t start

Post by Dadof3girls »

So last weekend I was driving the boat and it kind of sputtered twice in a row and then immediately just shut off. It is at the dealer now but haven’t heard from them. Never had an issue with the boat (bought it new this season) until now. Could it possibly be bad gas? I filled up an drove it about 15 minutes and then anchored for the day. When I left, probably drove 5 minutes before it stopped. It turns over but won’t start. Any ideas?

Maybe, but I wonder if it is a faulty fuel pump? But really it could be anything including a fault engine control module. I’m sure the dealer will get to the bottom of it.

Yeah the salesman mentioned bad gas. It didn’t sound like bad gas to me as it just abruptly stopped. Sure hoping they figure it out in the next 2 days as we planned to be down on the boat and taking a long ride with some friends.

First thing I checked was the kill switch...been there before. Boat is ready. It was a bad fuel pump. And according to the dealership, there is a back order on these pumps. Not sure if it is a common issue or just backed up due to Covid, or both.

It happens and they maybe having a issue with them. Getting parts for our vehicles is getting very challenging. We are waiting months to get parts. This does suck. Glad they figured a way to get you back on the water though. It sounds like?

I guessed right (first time I’ve done that). Glad they were able to get it repaired quickly for you.

Yes will be back on the water on Friday. Very happy I am back in business. Surprised I had an issue but crap happens. Just thankful I wasn’t too far from my house!

Glad to hear they got you squared away. Hey that’s what warranties are for right? You hate seeing your brand new boat leave you stranded but you are back in business now

Glad you're back on the water.

By the way, have you seen the T-shirts that says,

Krob, I have not seen that t-shirt but I will definitely look for it. I need it!

Happy that I have a warranty and I am back on the water without much fuss.
