Replacing Captains Call exhaust solenoids

Post by 98Cobalt233 »

Hi All!

Well, I have another issue that I thought I should share with everyone. When I bought the boat, (about a year ago in AZ) the previous owner told me he had disconnected the solenoids for the Captain's Call exhaust. Upon inspection one solenoid had been removed and the other was still there, but both were disconnected. I made a temporary fix, as you can see in the photos, of a turnbuckle that I can use to open and close the exhausts manually. It's worked fine, but I'd really like to get new solenoids installed. Any guidance finding the correct new ones would be greatly appreciated. I think the old ones are two wire. Can I use the existing wiring, etc and just wire new ones in? Photos attached and I'll post a photo of the old solenoid I have. Of course, it has no markings on it for me to reference... Thanks for your help!

I thought they went from 3 to 4 wires. Check corsa's website and Google it. There is a bunch of threads on converting them. No big deal. You can even find them on eBay.

Thank you! Thought I only saw two wires hanging down, but there are definitely three terminals on the solenoid. I'll look at the wiring again and check Corsa's website.

Check this thread and see if any of this helps. Depends a lot on what you have and what kind of solenoids you can get to replace them.

Also, here's a wiring diagram for the old 2 wire system.
