Plastic Ring around second prop on VP fwd Drive

Let me first say, I can check tire pressure, check oil levels, put gas in and that’s about it as far as my mechanical ability :0)... does anyone know if this is a problem. Sent the video to my dealer and just wanted a trusted opinion from you guys. Just got off the lake and went to check the prop. Didn’t feel like we hit anything, I’m not noticing any weird vibrations or anything. Brand new cobalt 2020 R7 surf.

I'm thinking some kind of fishing line or something wrapped around it and cut it. I'm not sure if there is another seal behind that ring or is that ring the seal. So not sure I would run it. Not knowing the drive number like Mines a dps drive. I searched a bit for a forward drive but really didn't see a parts break down.

So dealer says it’s a flow deflector. It’s they said it’s not critical but long term it’s suppose to minimize wear on the prop shaft seals. I verified the info. They said ok to run it but long term we need to get one. They ordered one, who know how long it’ll take to get in.

Good to know. Mines 17 years old and same seals so not sure what they are trying to make better
Without knowing your drive type number it was hard to look up.
