Group:
I've been lingering here for a while as I scour the internet in search of an R7 Surf.
I recently found a 2018 R7Surf that checks most of the boxes for me. Good condition, Trailer, 120hrs, Fresh water, 380, Winless: Had an MSRP of $202k.
Whats a good $ to pay? Given market and somewhat end go the season. (Im in Atlanta so still some time left....
Second question.
The 18' have the Garmin Dash but also the Surf controls are buttons vs all in the Garmins like the 19'&20' MY. Is there an advantage or disadvantage to this? Any other notables are differences in the new models vs. 18'?
Thanks!

Hey 007DT. Welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!
Nice find on the 2018 R7 Surf. Any pics???
As you know it is a seller's market. The season still has many months left in Atlanta. What price is on it now? Honestly I'm kinda surprised it has not sold yet. It must be close to 80% of MSRP I'm guessing.
Others will chime in on this and the Garmin question.
Again, welcome aboard mate!

Thanks. I'm familiar w/ Cobalt. Had a 262 prior. Just trying to find the right R7 Surf.
I'm at $150k now.
Hoping to be at $140-$145? Too aggressive?

Re: R7 Surf 2018 v Newer & -Value Thread
I'm not sure if you've made progress yet, but that boat had a dealer invoice in 2018 of around $141,000 plus freight/pdi and around $8,000 for the trailer. So, the boat is now 3 model years old and has 150 hours. If you build a new one and take 22% off, you'd be at $160,000. So my question is: If you can get a leftover boat for $160,000 - $170,000 and you have that budget, do you really want to pay $150,000 for a 3 year old boat?
If it was me, I'd just get the new boat unless there is a significant difference buying used. On a $200,000 boat, $15,000 ($25,000 including the trailer) isn't significant, in my opinion.

Agree with the above. $140k is as far as I would go. Otherwise, build a new one and get exactly what you want and 2-3 years extra warranty. Cobalts are great boats but the have become very complicated and have frustrating and expensive problems. Warranty's add a lot of value and smooth over the whole boating experience. Have fun shopping!
