winter storage in the north east
winter storage in the north east
Hi All,
I just bought a 2017 R5, need to get it stored for the winter, the marina i'm using offers both inside and outside storage, the difference in price is approx $1400, is it ok to get it winterized and shrink wrapped and store outside or should I spend the extra money and put it inside,
thanks

Re: winter storage in the north east
I would shrink wrap it and put it inside storage

I'v had two Cobalt boats over 3 seasons and had both boats winterized, shrink wrapped and stored outside on a cradle. I don't see any ill effects. if I had room, I'd put the boat in my heated warehouse, but I don't, so outside it goes.

I store mine outside all winter. No issues in central Ohio

With it shrink wrapped I wouldn't worry. If you store inside do they also store the trailer inside? That would save on the tires, but with the $ savings you can buy new tires.

That's funny In 3 seasons he bought a new one each year. So really your dealer stored your boat and charged you. Just trade them in before fall and save the cash
So many people don't have the luxury of room to store their boats. Shrink wrap is one of the best ways to protect your toy. Don't forget about your tires though. It's just as harsh on them.

Re: winter storage in the north east
That’s the plan. My dealer hauls out, winterizes and shrink wraps in the fall and cleans up, runs up the engine in the spring then puts the boat in the water and invoices me in June. If I trade at the boat show in March, I’ll never see that invoice.Big Block Power wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2020 6:04 pmSo really your dealer stored your boat and charged you. That sounds like a great plan then. I like no invoice.BobRae99 wrote: Mon Sep 21, 2020 10:28 pmThat’s the plan.
