Sys Fault 194

Post by chappellsm »

Looking for some information,

Our Cobalt 276, 496 MAG 375 hp, Bravo 3, went into neutral while cruising across the lake with the alarm sounding and the smartcraft screen shows -
STBD Sys Fault 194 - A shift fault has accrued. Return to neutral. Boat was running fine and has been heavily used this Summer with zero issues at all.

No matter what I do it will not go into gear, either forward or reverse, reset power, disconnected batteries and reconnected. Runs fine but as soon as I try to put it in gear the alarm sounds, it gives this message, and of course it does not go into gear.

I have searched the web fully and cannot find any reference to this alarm code, 194.

Hey SF94. Sorry about your shifting woes. Pretty tough to diagnose from the internet. Shift cables and linkage should move when you move throttle. Either your neutral button is stuck in or something disconnected.

Keep us posted.

Again welcome aboard.

Thanks for the replies,

We have the Mercruiser DTS system on our boat so there are no cables running directly from the shift/throttle or steering, it is all fly by wire. So this is why the smartcraft system gives the Sys Fault 194, and I am very surprised that I cannot find any documents that address this Sys Fault code.
