I’ve owned a lot of radar detectors the last 30 years. A couple of months ago I picked up a Uniden R3 to replace a Bel(Owned by Escort) Pro 500. I’m super impressed with the Ka range and false alarms are minimal. It took a few weeks to GPS mark the false alarms on my normal routes but I’m super happy with the performance and the BSM filtering. Ka range is all I’ve seen used here in MN and the Ka range is the best I’ve ever seen, certainly better than the Escort or Beltronics Detectors I’ve owned.

Uniden is definitely stepping up their game in recent years. I very nearly went with the R7 as it does have slightly better range than the Escort 360Max, but they are really close. In the tests I saw, the R3/7 beat the Escort by about 150ft/600ft respectively for flat out range, but the Escort claimed to be better at false filtering overall. I looked at it this way... 600ft is roughly 1/10th of a mile--that's not far. I think the Honda/Acura filtering went to the R. I went Escort and I too have been very impressed. My new 360 far outperforms my old x50. The best description I saw was that the R series was for a "serious" driver that wants to work at protection and the Escort was for the everyday person who wants the best combination of ease of use and functionality. To me, in the real world, 150ft doesn't mean a lot at 80mph, so I went Escort because I knew the platform. It's been a good unit. I know Escort has a new Redline out that is supposed to have even better range, but at some point, the returns start to diminish as price goes up. I'm driving 8-10 over, not 30-40 over

Your summary of the differences is spot on and I agree that the Escort 360Max is likely the best detector for 90% of users as the ease of use outweighs the insignificant range advantage of the Uniden. I’ve recommended the Escort to all my buddies that have asked for my opinion. I bought the Uniden because most of my really fast driving is through rural areas up to our lake home where max range protection is more important as many times when I’m making the trek up there the rural highways during off peak hours are almost empty and I’m often 20 mph over the limit. I can live with the extra hassle of some extra noise/false signals for the extra warning time. I don’t want to repeat my speeding ticket from two years ago, lol.

I purchased the ESCORT Redline 360c. It is scheduled to arrive next week. I will let you know my experience once I have had it long enough to do so.

I have now used the ESCORT Redline 360c for about a week. I know that is not much time, but I have 30 days to return it. I am not sure if that is from the actual order date or the receiving date. Since it took almost 3 weeks to receive it, I am not taking my chances due to the high cost of this item.

During this one week experiment, I found it to not be an upgrade of my current 360. In fact, I found the current 360 actually a little more responsive overall. I also found the directional arrows not performing well on the Redline model that I received.

Given the high price point combined with the enhanced performance that was touted in supporting the investment, I am disappointed.

I might venture out and try a non-ESCORT for the first time if I decide to try again.

For what it is worth, I thought I would provide one more update on my escort redline 360c purchase. Their return and refund process was seamless. No hassle. As a result, I would not hesitate buying from them again if they can fix the first release issues with this product.

Yep and it was the maroon SUV in July of 2018. My radar detector went off but he pulsed me when I was only a few hundred yards away so it was too late. I try to keep it under 80 mph now but sometimes I’m in a hurry to get out on the water, lol. My Uniden has been fantastic so far and is definitely the longest range detector I’ve owned.

Yep and it was the maroon SUV in July of 2018. My radar detector went off but he pulsed me when I was only a few hundred yards away so it was too late. I got stuck behind the sedan one day and he pulsed 31 vehicles before he got the kill and flipped the median. He’s relentless some days.
