Welcome your opinion....
I just purchased a place on Beaver Lake. Have a slip that is 30’ x 11’. Would like a 30’ Cobalt....
1. Which model - R30 or A29? Leaning towards the twin engine setup.
2. Will it for okay in the slip? Has a 10,000 lb lift.

Hey HD. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Personally I’d go for the twin engine set up with anything 28’ and up. Docking is easier. Low speed turns are a breeze. Redundancy is a nice peace of mind. Power is excellent. R30 all the way.
.
.
Your lift should be sufficient. R30’s run 8800 pounds with twins. Add gear and fluids and you’ll push 10,000 pounds. Of course a 12000 pound lift would be ideal.
Others will chime in shortly.
Any pictures of your lake setup?
Again welcome aboard mate!

I like the looks of the R30 better than the A29, I’d get one with the drop down swim step, and twin engines.... thats the stuff!

We have a R30 with twin Volvo 380s. Your 10k lift will most likely not be enough. Boat holds 150 gallons of fuel, plus fresh water tank, plus gear, etc. Our lift guy who is one of the best at LOTO told me you need to beat least 125% of your boats dry weight when choosing your lift. Sell that 10k and get a quality 12k lift. You may also need to put an extension on your dock if you want a roof over the whole boat. It will hang out the back a little at 30’ If you get an R30.
An R7 or A28 will fit better in a 30’ slip. Our slip is 34 feet and it’s the perfect size for our boat.

The arch on the R30 does not fold so you need at least 12.5 foot high roof in your slip. 13 is better. How high is the roof measured from the deck to the highest point in the middle? We have rough water so we went 14 feet high.

Yes, have our dealer coming out to measure the height of the boat dock prior to ordering the arch.
Did pull the trigger on the R30, build slot is July 2021.

Re: Welcome your opinion....
I would definitely go with the R30. Just not buying the A29 with a single engine is going to cut it. Big boat for 1 motor.
