Also...way better at high altitudes where I pull. You don't lose power with altitude like a normally aspirated engine.

Try it once so you can report if it handled the R7
Buddy just bought a 2020 expedition limited with the trailer package last week. They are looking forward to having a proper tow vehicle for their boat

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boa
The 3.5 EcoBoost will pull it no problem. The rear suspension will not enjoy the tongue weight of the R7 however. I'm somewhat guessing but I would also assume the R7 hooked up would put it real close to being over GVWR by the time T had it loaded up and ready to go.ajcampen wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 10:33 amTry it once so you can report if it handled the R7

Great looking SUV, just not the best choice to pull an R7.

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boa
Assuming 10% tongue weight, the difference at the hitch ball between an R7 and my A25 is less than 60 lbs. And my Navigator L tows my A25 beautifully.NautiGirl wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 1:26 pm The 3.5 EcoBoost will pull it no problem. The rear suspension will not enjoy the tongue weight of the R7 however. Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boa
Hmm assume it would be more than that, have you weighed the tongue on the A25 trailer? what's it scale?mdadgar wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 4:40 pmAssuming 10% tongue weight, the difference at the hitch ball between an R7 and my A25 is less than 60 lbs. I have - it's about 620 lbs.NautiGirl wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 7:25 pm Hmm assume it would be more than that, have you weighed the tongue on the A25 trailer? what's it scale?
Total weight is about 6300 lbs (~5200 for A25 and 1100 for the aluminum trailer).

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boa
Wow -that's a bit lighter than I would have guessed. I assume T would be be closer to 7,500lbs, 1750 for trailer 5600 dry boat plus a few hundred pounds leeway for Gas and ice and such.mdadgar wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 9:22 pmI have - it's about 620 lbs.NautiGirl wrote: Sun Jan 31, 2021 7:25 pm Hmm assume it would be more than that, have you weighed the tongue on the A25 trailer? what's it scale?

That would put him closer to 700 - 725 on the tongue. Remember the Ford tongue weight limit is 500lbs without weight distribution. That's a lot of weight to pivot behind the back axle, its only a 145in wheelbase, so would end up with a pretty light front end.
Certainly the truck would do it, but that's getting close to the point when I would want a heaver 2/3 Ton. Strokes for folks though.

Re: Let's see your Tow rigs with your boat!
Personally, I wouldn’t tow far with an Expedition. Yes, the tow package on an Expedition will tow 9,900 lbs.
Short distances, maybe. Anywhere other than across town, I would buy a truck.
My personal weight loads are somewhat different that Mdadgers.
70 gallons of fuel. 20 gallons of fresh and black water storage.
Accessories, coolers, stuff..
1,800lbs of trailer..
Four passengers and one cute dog..
My set up will drop my F-350 a couple inches. The IRS Expy? Not going to even try it.
Yes, the engine is more than capable for towing. Brakes/handling on the other hand..

There is a decent amount of rake on my truck. You can see the rake is gone with the boat attached, and the pic was taken with no one in the truck.

Yea - the F150's have about 1.5 - 2in of Rake built in. 525lbs on ours levels it out. I know the overload springs are stiffer - once you hit those its not going to continue to drop as much - but I would think an additional 250lbs on it would be a lot.Tuscany wrote: Mon Feb 01, 2021 7:53 am There is a decent amount of rake on my truck. Cosmetics aside all that weight is coming off the front wheels which you know have to do important things like steer and stop the truck. I would be curious to see Front Axle weights with 7500lbs of R7 sitting on the back of an F150.
I need to stop now, I said I was only coming back to talk about pool maintenance with Liquid and now here I am debating trucks.
