Howdy from Montana
New kid on the block. Looking forward to tips and other info on my recent Cobalt boat. I'm on Flathead Lake in western Montana. Largest freshwater natural lake west of the Mississippi. We have many other big lakes in Montana as well.

Hey LSC...welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!
Is this your first Cobalt? First boat? You are going to love the Cobalt ride. How is she powered?
Once we know the model we can zero in on specifics. Feel free to post pics too.
Again, welcome aboard mate!

Today's cool. Pictures! We don't have that many members from Montana so let's see your lakes! I've heard of flathead but never saw it. Welcome!

I have seen the water get up as high as 36 degrees. The water is so clear, you can easily see 50 feet down. I used to live in Lake Havasu City for about 11 years . Lived down on the South side about 6 blocks from Basha's. Had a 23 foot boat when I lived down there.

As high as 36 degrees? Quite the change from Havasu.Lee St.Clair wrote: Tue Feb 23, 2021 6:04 pm I have seen the water get up as high as 36 degrees. We looked at a few places on the south side of town but decided to get a place on the north side just off London Bridge Road. They are putting in a new development on the south side along with a new state park, launch ramp and marina. The lots that they have released so far have sold very quickly and some houses are just starting to come out of the ground. https://desertlandgroup.com/project/havasu-riviera/

WoW! That was the one thing I always feared when I lived there. I lived on Candlewood Dr and was right next to the desert. Always enjoyed hiking that area that they are now developing. We moved to Havasu in 1991 and stayed 10 years but we missed Montana so we moved right back where we came from. Sometime we go down to Parker with the RV for the winter. This last year was an exception because of the virus down there.

I left Havasu in 2011. Nowhere near as many people then. This might have been the spring breakers from California. Always a pain when they are in town.

Re: Howdy from Montana
We have never launched at Site 6. I don't want to be 'graded' on my launching and retrieving skills. We have a Premium AZ State Park pass (I think it is $200.00 per year) that allows us to use the Windsor ramps and Cattail Cove ramps. The pass might be less for AZ residents, not sure. They have not announced if that same pass will work at the new ramp in the new Riviera State Park, but I somehow don't expect it will, but that's OK as Windsor is only 5 minutes from the house.Lee St.Clair wrote: Thu Feb 25, 2021 6:10 am I left Havasu in 2011. Last summer it was so busy that the line to get into the Windsor ramp backed all the way up to AZ 95. Eventually, they made it so you had to use only London Bridge Road to get to the ramps (4 ramps, with one for only jet boats/skis). My guess is that if you didn't launch by 6:00am, the free Site 6 would have been full.
Spring break has really gotten much quieter over the past few years as lots of kids went to Mexico instead with the lower drinking age. Also, different colleges stagger spring break over different weeks now, so it's like a 6 week period now. I do enjoy cruising through the channel at that time, but my wife generally has some choice words for me if I suggest doing that. I just tell her it's a 'shortcut'.

Re: Howdy from Montana
For those not familiar, "The Channel" was created in the 1970s to facilitate the installation of The London Bridge that Lake Havasu City's founder bought from London after he learned it was for sale. It's pretty neat knowing that bridge spanned the Thames for over 100 years.

Robert McCulloch (the chainsaw company) purchased the bridge.
