Replacing courtesy light bulb with LED's
I am wanting to replace the bulb of the cockpit courtesy lights with a colored LED. The bulbs that I want to replace are mini wedges with RG161 printed on it. I've shopped online and there are many options to consider. So many options in fact that I am confused on what I need to get. Can someone who has changed their bulbs to LED's give me some direction on what LED's I need to get? A link to a good online source? All I am looking to do is to replace them with a single color LED. Thanks in advance.

Have you looked at your lights yet? Remove the lens. You might already have led ones in there and you just can't change the bulb. The ones I could change had a 194 type in it. Then you have to get the shortest bulb so it fits. On the ones I have now I had to solder my own leds in.cycleboater wrote: Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:09 pm I am wanting to replace the bulb of the cockpit courtesy lights with a colored LED. My bad you already know what bulbs you have in there.

Re: Replacing courtesy light bulb with LED's
Those photos look great.
I am confused by what the numbers on the bulbs mean. For example on the superbrightled site, I narrow my search results of the mini wedges by clicking on the "161" and then "blue" check boxes on the left side of the page and the inventory results that show up have "194" in the description. 161 doesn't even show up in the descriptions. Visually, the bases look correct, but I don't know what the importance of the number is and if they will work in my light fixture.

Tgrace, do you know if the courtesy lights above the swim platform are the same as the interior. I've really been wanting to make this mod on my boat.tgrace98 wrote: Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:51 pm I replaced all of mine with these

I think that I've got this figured out now. The LED that tgrace linked to above will work for my boat as well. Thank you.cycleboater wrote: Tue Jun 19, 2018 6:13 am Those photos look great.

I would need to know what it looks like. Some are led already and you can't change them as they are all one unit. Others are just like a194 bulb that just pulls out.201626sdwss wrote: Wed Feb 19, 2020 5:26 pm Help

Re: Replacing courtesy light bulb with LED's
Any idea on a 246 which courtesy lights and where to get with housing that matches? I can’t find them anywhere or any additional ideas. All mine are old looking and some are broken.

Hey CZ. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!
Any pics of which courtesy lights you’d like to replace? Which housings?
Feel free to post a 246 boat pic.
Again welcome aboard mate!
