Depth Finder Issue

Post by PittsburghJim »

Hello All,
First time posting here. I have a 99 23LS and last season the depth finder stopped working. The display comes on and counts down but then no depth is displayed. It does allow me to go in and adjust the alarms, and the depth, but no matter what I have done nothing is displayed. I believe it is original to the boat. Looking to see if anyone has any ideas on how to see if I can repair it or if I need to replace it. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey PJ...welcome to the CobaltChat forum. So glad you found us!

Does the display blink after countdown or does the display remain blank. Could be a bad gauge or loose wire if remaining blank. If it blinks then most likely the transducer puck in the engine compartment is out of fluid. It's a pretty simple system really. Gauge is attached with wiring to a transducer puck in the engine and a temperature reading piece for air as well as one for water temp if you have that system. How does the wiring look on the backside? Any loose ground or power wires?

Your gauge is probably manufactured by Faria.
Maybe check this depth sounder thread out.

Any pics?

Btw....Pittsburgh boater?

Again welcome aboard mate!

Nice

We used to do quite a bit of boating and skiing on the Mon at 10 mile before we moved north and started boating in Erie. Enjoy.
