replacement for motorized stern light

Post by cjmiller »

My original motorized stern light by innovative lighting is not retracting all of the way. Took it apart and the plastic guide is kinked and not repairable. Looking for a replacement that preferably fits the larger round hole in the boat. Looked at the manually retractable light from innovative lighting, has anyone had luck with that light, how far does it stick up when lowered? What have others bought to replace it?

Now I am looking at the adaptor plate and LED color changing boat whip light from safeglowhips.com. Anybody have any experience with that setup?

What was your solution to the motorized stern light?

Some jack wagon broke mine off. I called Innovative Lighting and they said the motorized light has been discontinued. I purchased the manual 2'-4' telescoping light and the adapter. I haven't installed it yet?

What did you come up with and has anyone else found a better solution?

Did you install yours yet? Just curious what you did since the original junk had 3 wires, and this new one only has 2

Jake

I called Innovative Lighting and they gave me the low down. Red to red with the fuse still in line, and black to black. The black with the silver stripe is the switch wire.

Not real happy with the alternative to what I had. Once it's plugged in, it's on, switch or no switch. Some of these electrical gurus could probably build a work around but its not my strong suit. The pole and light look fine and it comes with two hangers to install for storage.
