R30 build….what would you consider as a “must-have” option for this boat?

Post by Harvardokie »

We have an R30 on order, finalizing specs next week. For those who have gone before me, what options would you want on your boat?

hard top with electrical shade
Joystick
Upgraded 12” monitors
Auto trim
Windlass
Underwater lighting
Premium sound pkg

Not sure on macerated head or not
Considering the heater for fall and early spring cruises

This is from the top of my head, don’t have the build sheet handy. And I am on Beaver Lake.

In my humble opinion, you chose the right engines for your boat. I also did the sea grass, a flag and the SS helm foot rest. Along with the underwater lighting you may want to add the swim platform lighting and the retractable swim platform as well. ( none of my suggestions are must haves ) Our dealer encouraged the sun shade but advised us to skip the electric function. Apparently they have had issues with the shade binding up if the shade is not perfectly adjusted. I literally spend 30 seconds deploying and retracting ours and all is well. Just my opinions and we have only 40 hours on ours. Dan.

Dan, thank you very much. I, too, have those options on mine. Everything except for the illuminated swim platform. Not sure I would have a need for that as I doubt we will be doing swims when it is dark.

Interesting thought on the pull out shade…will consider that.

Yes to all of these. My 2018 R30 checks all those boxes. The auto trim is fantastic. Add trim tabs and interior LED lighting and you’ll have a great boat!

Yes please do post pics. I like the way these R30 builds are shaping up and they are all relatively local. Have my eye on your 2018 BIGGUSBLOCKUS. Keep her nice and shiny!

Here's what I wish the R30 still had, the flip down swim step like the R7 vs the hydraulic platform. I believe this was the standard the first couple of years. Far less expensive to repair

Old moniker that stuck…and yes, an Okie that was lost in Cambridge for a couple of years a long time ago.
