Bit of a windy and choppy day on the water so spent the afternoon getting some projects knocked out. First was the tig tech flag pole. This was my first major hole to cut in the boat myself, but came out fine. Figured out placement by flipping mount upside down to find a good spot. The back end of the boat does have a lot of roll, but just aft of the anchor light worked out. Layed out tape and then also made a template out of tape by tracing it around the top of the mount.
Used a Lennox grit tip hole saw for the main hole. It cut great, though I did have to make a second cut to get the angle right. After double checking screw hole placement got those drilled out. Hardware was 1/4 inch machine screws, fender washers and lock nuts. Luckily on my boat access underneath the mount was easily reached to place hardware. Interesting note was seeing the anchor light base is screw mounted only.
Overall not too bad to install, but was nerve wracking to cut the hole!

Awesome post! I'm trying to get up the nerve to do the same!! Finding a spot on my CS23 has been the challenge. Folks enter the back of the boat in that area and I keep worrying about it being in the way!!

Look great! Did you use any sealant, as I didn't see any in the picture. If not, then you should use 3M 5200 adhesive to ensure secure installation and seal the cut fiberglass. Interesting observation on the anchor light; I would have thought Cobalt would have used bolts, nuts, and fender washers.

I did, layed in some 5200 between the mount and the fiberglass. Forgot to mention, thanks!jma2@fuse.net wrote: Mon Jun 07, 2021 7:57 pm Look great!
