Under dash Electrical Connector Type

Post by MoRiver »

My '14 200 has these purple connectors under the dash. Can I used one to power my GPS/Fishfinder? What is this type of connector called?

Thanks.

Yes, you can. They are called Deutsch connectors. You can find them online very cheap. I did exactly what you are talking about with my chartplotter. I used the accessory switch. The wires should all be labeled.

Thanks for the reply on the connectors. I searched online for ‎Deutsch connectors and I see dozens of different sizes & kits to make these, but don't see any that look like my boat's specific connector. I'm thinking that I'll just cut the connector off under the dash and splice in the new GPS cable the old fashioned way. It looks too complicated & expensive to find a match and build a Deutsch connector that may or may not fit from these kits.

Look up motex or molex connectors. Packard also has a bunch.

Those are not Deutsch connectors. They kinda look like AMP connectors but I couldn't find the exact match.

Might be time to call Cobalt to see what they say.

Big Block - I see some Molex connectors under there, but these are different. The white ones are Molex.

Bruceb58 - the link to the AMP connector does look like the purple connectors under the dash.

I'm still debating whether I want to drill holes in my dash for a Ram mount. I really miss having a real depth finder and maps. I'm thinking one of the locations in the attached pic is the best place for the 2" Ram ball mount.

Thanks for the replies!
