Poop pump out
We have a 2017 cobalt r5 with a bathroom. We recently had someone poop on the boat when we trying to not have people use it and it stinks now.
Our lake that we keep the boat on is too small and none of the marinas have a place that can pump out. Is there anything we can do ourselves to pump it out?

Hey Y202. So glad you found us!
You may ruin your shop vac if you go that route.
Are you able to tow to another marina on another lake?
What type of porta-potty is it? Post a pic. If the holding tank is the small plastic tank connected to the head, as a last resort you can unhook the clamps on each side, carefully disconnect the pump out hose on the back side by loosening the hose clamp, and dump it manually. We have that particular set up where the hull side pump out port runs directly to that plastic tank. Never had to use it yet though.
Post a pic or two of your R5 if you can.
And welcome aboard mate!

Re: Poop pump out
They make RV/Marine septic tank deodorizers for black water that are all over Amazon. Buy a couple bottles and dump one in and flush the toilet quite a few times. That will help for a quick fix but you really need to get it pumped out and flushed! That’s going to be your best option. The proper way to pump them is they first suck out the black water until empty, then they run quite a bit of fresh water right back in the pump out hole then pump it out again. Then after I’ve had ours pumped I dump a bottle of the black water deodorizer septic treatment in the toilet and flush. We don’t have any smell in our toilet. Ours doesn’t get used much but I only let anyone use it when we are somewhere I can get it pumped the same day. Remember that now that the head has been used if you live in an area that freezes in the winter the head will have to be winterized also.

Re: Poop pump out
A7 is on point here. Not much you can do other than remove the tank if you can't find another marina.
Marine heads suck...unless you are in inernational waters and can utilize a macerator overboard. I had one on my sailboat. I'll never forget the first time we had it pumped out...the hose nozzle they place used was clear so they could tell when it was empty. Quite the site....You could see the look of disgust on the face of the marina attendant when you said "I need a pump". Not to mention the "shame" of pulling up to the pump out.
On some larger lakes they will often times have boat that comes to you to pump. The one I remember was named " The Honey Pot"....

Re: Poop pump out
My wife liked a Crownline when we were looking to replace our smaller boat, mainly because of the head.yankees202 wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:24 am We have a 2017 cobalt r5 with a bathroom. We recently had someone poop on the boat when we trying to not have people use it and it stinks now.

I had several people tell me that once head was used, it was hard to get the smell out.
Solution: Only let people use it if there sh*t don't stink.

To replace one of these heads cost less than $200. Not sure why a used head would be a problem....just pull it out and replace!Krob1114 wrote: Tue Aug 03, 2021 4:12 amMy wife liked a Crownline when we were looking to replace our smaller boat, mainly because of the head.yankees202 wrote: Sun Aug 01, 2021 10:24 am We have a 2017 cobalt r5 with a bathroom. Check out the Blackwater Bazooka built by Sixo Design. he puts together a nice macerator pump with all the fittings and hoses you need to empty your tank by yourself. We have a Formula 280ss with a holding tank and I wanted to be able to pump the tank at home rather than rely on marinas to pump my tank, so I happened to stumble upon his product. you can buy it through eBay and he has a youtube video on how to use it.

This system certainly has it's niche market. Thanks for sharing L14s

Just bought. This is great. My pax only go “#1” so a vac does work but this will be nice “just in case”. LOLOL

not sure where your pump out cap is located, but mine is in an awkward position. so he "customized" mine a bit to make it really easy.tbully wrote: Thu Aug 05, 2021 7:21 am Just bought. This is great. My pax only go “#1” so a vac does work but this will be nice “just in case”. LOLOL

As a relatively new captain prior to taking off and telling everyone to stay seated while underway and where the life jackets are I say "The toilet is broken so don't even think about pooping on the boat." (It's not but we have never used it and don't plan to start) Good thing this lake is full of places to pull over for a quick..ummm....break.
