Curious what boat lifts folks are using with Surf Series? We currently have a FiberSteel lift that has two bunks and cross beam for support. Concerned the Volvo forward drive may hit the cross beam. Have an R8 coming and haven't been able to test it out.
I have a Hydro Hoist lift 8000# that was set up for my R7 Surf. I had them set it up so that I could back in my slip onto the lift and it clears. I am not sure if they had to raise the bunks to avoid the cross beams or not.

Watch out!! I have a 2019 R3 Surf on a 7k hydro hoist and just busted off the prop cone and bent both prop shafts. According to my dealer it is a $6300 repair or an $8800 replacement of the entire lower unit. I had the prop fully up and was only a couple inches forward than my normal position. I have to put the boat up far enough that it doesn't just slide back while the lift is going up and put all the weight on the back end. All I have found to prevent this in the future is to thicken or heighten the bunks to give it more clearance. But I am having the hydro hoist dealer come out and look to see if they can change the setup or possibly install a bow stop. I can't believe I haven't found anyone else that has had this problem with a front mount lift. They just weren't made for these boats. Unfortunately, I don't think I'm able to install anything but a front mount lift.

Hey thanks for the heads up wewunder.
These surf boats are a different animal with those forward facing props that drive down when you trim up. I’m sure others are experiencing similar damage.
Any pics?
So glad you found us. And welcome aboard mate!

Speaking of lifts, how do you determine the proper spacing of the bunks for an R6? When the marina installed my HydroHoist lift, I'm not sure the bunk spacing is correct.
My R5 Surf sits on a Shorestation 7500 lb. hydraulic lift with a bow stop. I love the motorized 7’ tall power screen that protects the boat on all 4 sides when the boat is not in use. I’ve never used the cover on my boat other than once a year when it goes into storage.
FWIW, I know of two other surf boat owners that have other brands(not Shorestation) of lifts that have installed the Shorestation bow stop.

I will never buy Hydrohoist again after my 3.5 year old 12k lift cracked a tank and sunk. Abysmal customer service. I won’t go into too many details on a public forum. Let’s just say I feel there are better quality lifts these days who take better care of their customers than Hydrohoist. Poly lift or nothing for me moving forward.

Bitburg - We used measurements from the bunks on our trailer to adjust lift bunks, that worked for us. Assuming you have a trailer, if not someone with an R6 could possibly help out.
I’ve had zero problems with my Hydrohoist lift. My dealer took measurements from my trailer and then spent a couple of hours lining up the rails to get the perfect fit.
