Last time we were there we were on a bay charter and the guide said 'his' boat actually belonged to a local billionaire who bought it (24' Boston Whaler, fully rigged) and let him use it for his business as long as he took them out whenever they were in town, which was a couple weeks a year. He said he was buying it from them for pennies on the dollar because they bought a new, bigger offshore fishing yacht and wanted him to captain it for them so they worked out a deal. Very nice guy, we hung out with him a couple nights and got into the local 'blue collar' scene, which I like a whole lot more than the tourist scene.
Yep, there is real money in Naples and more Bentleys and other high end cars than anywhere else I’ve been. We’ve owned a small condo down there since 2013 and recently upgraded to another small condo in a slightly better location with a marina. The number of ultra high net worth individuals in Naples/Port Royal is silly. The building that our realtor lives in(her husband manages it) has condos ranging from $6-$12 million. Of course the really wealthy have homes. There is a knockdown oceanfront home currently for sale 1.5 miles south of our condo for $27.5 million! Nothing like paying $500k per year in property taxes once you get done putting a house on that lot. We love to rent a pontoon and cruise through Port Royal buzzing by all the high end homes at 4 mph. I’m sure the home owners love to see us from the proletariat class driving by in a 24’ rental pontoon taking pictures!

It’s a diverse area, but I just love it. After doing a complete remodel on our current place, I’m thinking in a couple more years, we’re going to sell it and buy a larger house somewhere in Bonita or Estero. Love Naples, just too crowded.

Awesome. But when you do, be sure to get extra bedrooms to allow for guests. Just sayin..!

Sanibel and Cativa are both gorgeous, and have some of the frendliest locals I've met anywhere. We always try to make a trip to the Mucky Duck as that was a special place for my in-laws. Best farmers market to boot!

There is a boat tour out of Tin City that takes you into Port Royal to gawk at the wealthy. My 89 year old mother loves it.🤣
