1999 Cobalt 232 restoration

Made all 0/1 awg copper marine grade wire to today. Hydraulic crimped copper terminals on all the ends. And hear shrink on all the ends

Installed marine grade 300amp stainless steel distribution blocks to bring all the connections together as clean as possible.

And make sure to use conductive grease on all of your terminals. Especially on any that are making contact with stainless steel

Is that like dielectric grease? Never seen that.
I worry as certain high amperage connections can tend to build a arc through the moisture and be an issue.
We see issues on alternators that Ozzie grease from the terminal on the charging lug.
My recommendation would be leave it dry.

I was always told 2 dissimilar metals with a dielectric between was a battery ?

It's quite the opposite of dielectric grease. Dielectric grease is non-conductive and I would never recommend using it on surfaces that need to conduct electricity. This is conductive carbon grease. It helps to make a better contact and lower electrical resistance. It is especially helpful in marine applications where you have some electric components made of stainless steel such as buss bars, hold down bolts, washers, etc... It is also helpful in any high amperage connections to help make better contact and lower resistance.

This is a very good read. The last paragraph is very interesting.
As Matt and I use dielectric grease a bunch in the automotive industry and recommended by our manufactures.

It has the Volvo 7.4gi. Should be able to get up and go? I’m not looking to win any races, but don’t want to be slugging around. I’m just curious how his boat was performing to use as a comparison for when I test drive.
