True. It’s like driving a tuna can around.
...although with it being so light and so low to the ground, it makes 25mph feel like 60 mph.

I see you caught and fixed that pretty quickly.

We took the boat out for the day yesterday and impressed more of our friends. I love doing that! Unfortunately, when we put her to sleep, we noticed that one of the Goodyear Marathon tires has excessive wear on the inside, as in zero tread worn smooth. So, it has to go obviously. The trailer is a 2014 Heritage with tandem axles and the other tires look good, but if they are all 5 years old, then I will just replace them all. I'm researching tires and like the GY Endurance that some of you recommend, but various web searches come up with all kinds of brands that I'm not as familiar with like Carlisle and Hi Run. I figured those articles are supported by the makers of those tires, so I'm skeptical and Goodyear is a trusted name. So, I have two questions:


1. Have any of you hade trouble with unusual wear on tires and is this something I need to have looked at? Is this an axle or alignment issue? Never given much thought to having my boat trailer alignment checked and I've never heard of that.

2. Anyone have any thoughts that would steer me away from the Goodyear?

Carlisle tires really suck. I had two on a sea ray 185 trailer and both were getting ready to go. I replaced with another brand. On my 220s trailer (boatmate) I have replaced two of the tires the past couple months with goodyear endurance. Plan to do the other two in the spring (5 year old tire thing). One I replaced got a nail in the sidewall and the other got a puncture at the ramp. I am all in on goodyear endurance for my replacements. if they don't last i'll blame bbp

My old marathon tires wore the inside off after a long trip from Branson and back. Were they ever rotated?
How many people other than me rotate there trailer tires. For that reason alone I do it.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I have no idea if they were ever rotated. The boat was registered in Iowa and I think the first owner may have used it between Lake of the Ozarks and another lake closer to their home, but the dealer I purchased it from sucked and they couldn't give me much help on knowing how they used it other than 130 hours. So, I like the idea of rotating them just in case there is an issue and I will ask some dealers if they have had problems with uneven wear on tandem trailers just in case. My wife thinks I'm just replacing that one tire, but if the DOT numbers indicate that they are 5 years old, I'm getting 4 new tires and then decide on the spare. I may gamble and use an old tire for that.

Eat something light for lunch today BBP or it will ruin you appetite. hehe.

Tusc, that really surprises me given the newness of the tires! I replace my trailer tires every 5 years no matter what they look like. Glad no one was hurt and no major damage occurred.

This is a tricky question - a bit of laywerball going on I think. Carlisle HDs are rated to 81mph, and Goodyear Endurance to 89mph (if memory is correct), but because they're ST tires, they are still technically not recommended for towing above 65mph. Despite the markings on the sidewall. The "official" word is those are tested rating numbers, not recommended maximum speed numbers.

PS - and there's a huge difference between Goodyear Marathon and Goodyear Endurance. The Endurance tires appear to be the only ones suitable for towing a Cobalt. Carlisle is reputable, but nothing less than their HD tires (they make cheaper ones too).
