If I was to change the belt I would do what A7 did when he died maint. I would pull the engine and stuff a 8.1in it!!

As much as I miss my old big block V8 on the 23LS I just can’t bring myself to spend the money to upgrade the motor on a 212. Why so stubborn? Cuz it’d rather upgrade the whole boat! 🙃 🤣

How does one take the tension off the serpentine belt idler on a vp 5.7? I don't find the hole to insert a socket.

Hello MLab. Welcome to the Cobaltchat forum. So glad you found us!

I’m not sure what year your VP is but you normally just turn the nut to loosen with the tensioner attached. No need to do the old style hole method. Some models will require the removal of your water pump hose and bracket first.
