Boat before my Cobalt was a 2006 Malibu I bought new. Halloween 2008 I’m pulling it out at my neighbors ramp. (Had done so a few times) From the ramp to the road there is 75’ driveway with a VERY steep incline with about a 90 curve mid way up. The incline was enough to tax my then Ford Expedition to the max. At the top of the drive it levels off at the road... It had rained earlier in the day and the drive was covered in leaves... Anyone see what’s coming? Yep.. Got a good running start and ALMOST made it to the road when I lost traction.... Loose traction.... Break hard.... Slide backwards...... Scream.... As I’m sliding down the drive and all I can see in the mirror is the LARGE oak tree lining up with the center of the transom. Close my eyes and wait. Slam into the tree and sat in the truck for 2-3 mins before getting the courage to get out and look at the destruction. Apparently while I had my eyes closed for last few seconds, the boat shifted to the left and the teak swim platform grazed the tree and the back corner of the transom hit the tree square. Miraculously the only damage was the black trim that wraps the boat was cracked and a small piece was broken off... That’s it! Puked.... The most damage was to the receiver hitch. The impact actullay bent the hitch to the point it was visible. Testament to the Malibu construction. Needless to say never used the ramp again.

I just puked again typing this....

I've told this sooo many times. First day of vacation.

Mash City, Population: My Prop

Woke up at 5 AM to drive home to get the spare prop I definitely didn't bring. replaced in a dinghy on the water. It was amazing.

Also broke a chunk of the skeg clean off.

What did you hit?

Or better yet, what did you not hit?

Dropping in before a storm on Keuka.

Railroad ties... Cement something or other. Somebody here knows the ramp better than me and it's basically and elephant graveyard of props.

Last summer my nephew fell off the SeaDoo without the dead man's switch attached to his lifevest. The SeaDoo was not circling back to him like it normally does so since we were parked nearby, I drove my R5 alongside of it to give it a nudge in his direction and when I got close it turned towards me and the pointy hull of the bow stuck the side of the R5 and cracked the gel coat. It was $1,000 to get fixed. Next time he can swim his ass off to catch up to it if he doesn't want to wear the lanyard!

I got my boat last Aug. I took to a Cobalt dealer to have it winterized and the impellers replaced. I went to get it ready to go out on the lake and noticed a little bag tied to the steering wheel. It had three hose clamps and two brass bolts. I got the hoses back on and the brass bolts in their fittings.
Thought I was done...
Got out onto the lake...my wife was out of town and was giving me hard time about having oars...I dont have any...I think it is like peeing the ocean with a boat this size. ...We were about a mile away from the boat ramp when the boat died.

We finally got it to start. Then it was sluggish to drive...I kept hearing an alarm coming from the engine area. I lifted the hatch...it was full of water under the motor. The belts were staying cool going through the water...I was like ^%#& and turned on the bilge and promptly got the boat out of the water.

I was like I know I got everything hooked up right, but told myself when I get home I will hook the hose up to the attachment and see where it is leaking. I found the hose and noticed the winterizing people left the cap off of the house...So at least it was an easy fix and no real damage done.

But it had me freaked out for about 2-3 hours. Good thing the family was not on the boat or my daughter would have freaked out!

I think I'm more disgusted at the language that so fluently rolls out of folk's mouths these days. You can hear the baby right before the F-bombs. :(

If it's on the trailer, it falls to the carrier/ trucking company.

These crazy steep ramps....did one on Norris lake. Angle was crazy steep as well as crazy to get back onto leveler ground. Backing down the steep hill I was being pulled down until the boat went in the water (at least part way). On the way out, I snapped my strap trying to get boat back on trailer, angle was all wrong....so I stopped the foolishness and went to a different more normal ramp. For all the Norris lake guys, this was the development all the way north of the jumping bridegroom. The development has a terrible ramp

The ramp at our lake is pretty steep when the water is down. I always have to switch the 4x4 on. I have seen lots of spinning tires on 2wd trucks.

Of course, there is no danger of a steep ramp now with the lake flooded. Actually, theres no ramp at all...
