That’s tops bad. What a freak accident. Yes a good gel coat guy can make that look like new.
Now my rant. I have the fender clips and hate them. Unless you use the same dock every time there is no way to adjust them quickly and easily. Plus they have a big swinging metal weight at the end of the rope when not attached. For me they rank right there with the trash can. I have never used them successfully. Agree with tying the old way to cleats. . If I was ordering. A new boat I wouldn’t put them on it
I have found mine work perfectly for gas docks or when at restaurant docks. But when doing a raft up or tie up with other boats I have 4 regular taylormade fenders in the boat and I use the cleats.
Maybe if the docks are floating...maybe. If the docks are fixed...not so much.
ah yeah all the docks in my neck of the woods are floating.

Some floating but not a ton. Most have nasty sharp metal parts. Next to useless for a fixed dock

I will start calling tomorrow since most boat dealers and repair shops are closed on Monday, but I'm hoping I can get it fixed for $1,000. I'm probably bagging those clips I'm about ready to buy one of those long fender skirts that cover the whole side. We might only get to boat one more time this fall, so I will have plenty of time to find a good shop.

Well this seals my thoughts on adding the quick fender clips. Wouldn't have thought those would protrude like they do.

I found a guy that is very highly recommended by multiple sources including my local Cobalt dealer. I have talked to him and will plan to get it fixed before next season. I have two broken fender clips, but won't bother replacing them at $120 each. I'm just going to look for a better solution and probably add at least one more fender. I have four 8 inch Taylormade fenders, so I'm going to take a good look at the fenders in relation to the shape of the hull and see if I need to add something bigger.
Has anyone ever used those curtain fenders that go down the side of the boat? They look like they would be a pain to deploy and fold and stow, but they seem to provide the best coverage for our babies.

Check out mission fender. They have a unique solution. Also. The mfg of the fender clips you have is big sky precision and they call them phender something or other. You can replace at like 50% the cost

Thanks for that information. I'm going to look at both.

Those Mission Fenders look GREAT! So, I'm guessing you own some? I don't know if I would even care about the fender clips if I had those.

I don’t but I am tempted too. They look so easy to put on. I have 2 Taylor made 6 or 8 inch fenders and really like them. Annoying to tie on all the time but it is what it is. I will buy the mission fender some day. I usually boat 50% of the time on northern lakes where all docks don’t float so I have to be able to adjust.
My list of wants right now is a perfect pass and phone holder for wakeboarding.

I really like the way these are supposed to work and if they performed, I would probably order a few, but if you read the reviews on their website, they seem to be very hit or miss. They either work perfectly or fall off. There are even a couple of reviews about using them on an R5, which one states they don't follow the contour of our hulls. I guess some research is in order.

The hull shape was my primary concern. I guess more research is in order and in the meantime, I think I will just replace my fender clip lines with regular lines and then do more research on a good clip option that allows you to adjust the fender height quickly.
