Post a picture of the drive. Yes if it's all white and chalky you need a shower. That's from the water boiling on the drive.It's the stream and left over deposits. Make sure your changing your drive oil regularly also if it's like that.

When I got the boat I couldn't figure out why the drive would be so white just thought it was water spots that the prev.owner never took care of but after reading this i'm pretty sure I know what it is. I'll change the drive oil before I take it out this spring. What is best mineral or synthetic?....that should start a Ford vs Chevy type discussion ;-}. What weight of oil?

Use the Mercury High Performance Gear Lube.

Just use toilet bowl gel cleaner to clean/wash it first. Most of it all come off. May have to use a soft brush.
No debating oil or trucks on this site.lol. We use Mercedes AMG, Bmw, Dodge, Ford,Chevy,hybrid dodge things to pull 263's just for you A7

we don't care as long as it makes it to the lake and we get the boat wet. Thats all that counts on here:-)
